Coldplay Drops Eerie, Atmospheric Charity Single “A L I E N S”
Coldplay continues to drip feed songs from their upcoming Kaleidoscope EP (due July 14) with a new single called “A L I E N S.” The eerie track, which was co-written and co-produced by the legendary Brian Eno, will raise money for the Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) — an international NGO that rescues refugees at sea. The act of fleeing terror is reflected in the animated lyric video. Directed by Diane Martel and Ben Jones, the visual follows a family of extraterrestrials as they escape their planet.
The band’s Kaleidoscope EP is shaping up to be something of a mixed bag, in the best possible sense. It includes their chart-conquering smash with The Chainsmokers, “Something Just Like This,” as well as a collaboration with rapper Big Sean called “Miracles (Someone Special).” When you throw in the old school “All I Can Think About Is You” and the experimental “A L I E N S,” fans are in for a genre-bending treat.
