Bebe Rexha is kicking off the weekend by offering up a taste of her debut LP Expectations. Earlier this week she rolled out the striking black-and-white cover photo and announced that the project would be up for pre-sale today (April 13). She celebrated the news with the release of a pair of buzz tracks: “Ferrari” and the Quavo-assisted “2 Souls On Fire.” True to form, both of the songs put a new spin on pop and are complimented by the 28-year-old’s distinctive voice.

Boasting a stadium rock-inspired production, “Ferrari” is a nostalgia-inducing track with a seriously anthemic chorus. “Can we start to slow it down? Can we learn to live right now? I just want to feel it all,” she coos over a sparse beat before things build up underneath. “I’m a Ferrari and after the party is done I keep on going. Missing the moments, living in the fast lane is getting kind of lonely,” she laments. Considering its earnest lyricism and impressive performance, it is easy to imagine the track finding a home on the charts.

The same could be said of “2 Souls On Fire.” Instead of relying on the Migos rapper for a serving of generic trap-pop, Bebe falls back on her alternative roots for their collaboration. The pair trade off lines on the romantic midtempo, which makes for a true duet instead of just calling in a featured verse. “Desire, two souls on fire,” the “In The Name Of Love” hitmaker belts. Her voice is particularly compelling on the track, and she shows it off to perfect effect. Of the two, this may be an even more obvious hit.

2018 has already been kind to the superstar. As it stands, Bebe is sitting pretty at the number 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with her Florida Georgia Line-assisted “Meant To Be.” Last week she rolled out an acoustic version of the Americana-inspired anthem that will likely extend her reign on the charts. With any luck, she will be able to best Drake’s chart-dominating “God’s Plan” and claim the top spot next week. Considering her track record of pristine hits, it would be a well-deserved accomplishment before Expectations arrives. The LP has an expected release date of June 22, so she has plenty of time. Give the tracks a listen below and pre-order the album here!
