Reached for comment, an NFP rep tells Variety, “It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with [longtime sponsor] Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.” A rep for Maroon 5 could not immediately be reached for comment.
While the group is stylistically more similar to recent performers like Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars than more controversial ones such as Beyonce and Lady Gaga, Maroon 5’s most recent hit was a tag-team with Cardi B — “I Like It,” named one of the top songs of the summer by recent streaming service charts and it recently collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the song “Don’t Wanna Know,” so some left-field guest appearances on Super Bowl Sunday are certainly a possibility.
One of the great challenges in choosing a halftime performer isn’t just its mainstream appeal, but in finding an artist who hasn’t already performed. Over the years, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, U2, The Who, Katy Perry and even the Black Eyed Peas have all performed, and of course the 2004 set from Janet Jackson (featuring Timberlake) was marred by controversy due to her “wardrobe malfunction.” Prince’s 2007 performance — which saw him playing a galvanizing version of “Purple Rain” in a rainstorm — is widely regarded as the all-time best halftime set.
The NFL has faced an additional challenge this year due to its stance regarding former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to take a knee during the National Anthem as a sign of protest, which has spurred outrage in some quarters, from the president on down. Kaepernick has not played since the 2016 season and his contract has not been picked up by another team, largely due to the controversy. Reports emerged last year that Jay-Z had turned down an offer to perform during halftime, which he seemingly confirmed in the lyrics to his recent song with Beyonce, “Apesh–“: “I said no to the Super Bowl: you need me, I don’t need you.”

Say it ain’t so! Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid took to Twitter to confirm that they have ended their relationship after more than two years together. What happened?
We’re not ready to accept this. Zayn Malik, 25, and Gigi Hadid, 22, one of our favorite celebrity couples, have broken up. Just hours after reports surfaced that the two had ended things, Zayn took to Twitter to confirm the news. “Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend. She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ.”
Shorty after, Gigi issued a statement of her own. “Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few year..not only in the relationship, but in life in general,” she wrote. “I’m forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will alway be.”
The tweets came after the following report started to go viral. “[Zayn and Gigi] are no longer a couple but they do remain close and are supportive of each other,” a source close to the couple told The Sun. “The reality is that they’ve grown apart, having been together for a long time. “This is definitely the end for now, but this isn’t a bitter split and they both have respect for each other,” the source said. “It’s a mutual decision so no one has completely ruled out a reunion in the future, but for now that’s not where their heads are at.” HollywoodLife.com has reached out to both Zayn and Gigi’s reps for comment.
While we were hoping that Zayn and Gigi weren’t on the outs, some puzzling activity on Zayn’s Instagram account gives us pause for concern. First, there’s the fact that Zayn unfollowed Gigi and her mom, Yolanda Hadid! Remember that Zayn’s tight with the entire Hadid family. Yolanda’s had nothing but lovely things to say about Zayn. She recently said he was “like a son,” making fans believe Gigi and Zayn could be getting engaged soon!

Even stranger: Zayn posted a shirtless selfie the same day the report of their split broke, captioned, “When Life throws you lemons , catch em so they don’t hit you in the fucking face.” Oof. Someone’s feeling angsty right now! Zayn and Gigi started dating in November 2015, just three months after he broke off his engagement with Little Mix‘s Perrie Edwards, 24. It was weeks after Gigi ended things with Joe Jonas, 28.

The long-awaited and extensively leaked special edition iPhone is finally upon us, and it’s called the iPhone X (pronounced “iPhone 10”). This new super flagship phone from Apple features an edge-to-edge screen with a notch at the top to accommodate the front-facing camera and new Face ID sensors. It’s also, along with the new iPhone models, one of the first iPhones to support wireless charging.
Apple CEO Tim Cook teased the introduction of the new device with the following words:
“Over the past decade, we’ve pushed forward with innovation after innovation, bringing us to this moment, when we can create devices that are far more intelligent, far more capable, and far more creative than ever before.”
The iPhone X has glass on both the front and the back, and it has “surgical-grade” stainless steel around the sides. It is water-resistant and comes in two colors: space gray and silver. It also has the highest pixel density (458ppi) display ever in an iPhone, with Apple calling it a Super Retina display. It measures 5.8 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 2436 x 1125. It’s the first OLED display in an iPhone, which Phil Schiller explains bluntly: it’s “the first OLED display great enough to be in an iPhone.” Like the iPhone 8, the iPhone X also has True Tone display technology.

Apple has omitted the home button for the first time, replacing it with an upward swipe from the bottom of the phone. Along with the home button, which used to house the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, Apple is also moving away from fingerprint authentication. The method that replaces it is called Face ID and does what the name suggests: it unlocks the phone just by having you look at it. It’s based on the tech in the notch at the top of the phone: it combines an IR system with the front camera and a so-called flood illuminator that beams a light at your face so it can be recognized even in the dark. Apple even went the extra step of building a dedicated neural engine — based on a dual-core custom chip design — to process face recognition in real time.
Face ID, according to Apple, is orders of magnitude more secure than Touch ID. The company claims a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of another person being able to look at your phone and unlock it through Face ID (with that chance increasing for people that share genetic lineage with the user, so, as usual, be wary of your twin). The new face authentication will also work with Apple Pay and all third-party apps that already supported Touch ID.
Photos and video playback on this new iPhone will both wrap around the notch at the top of the device, which is liable to grow irritating over time. Multitasking will also be something people will need time to adapt to: opening the iOS Control Center, for instance, requires a swipe down from the screen’s top right corner. All the swipe-based interactions have been tried by other phone companies before, with varying degrees of success.
The iPhone X has dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, and it’s equipped with optical image stabilization on both lenses. The sensors are both larger and faster than previous generations, says Apple, and the main camera has an f/1.8 aperture while the telephoto lens has an f/2.4 aperture. In between the two cameras is a quad-LED True Tone flash that is claimed to provide scene illumination that is twice as uniform as previously. The new phone also offers 4K video recording and stereo speakers for better audio playback.
The new A11 Bionic processor that was introduced with the iPhone 8 earlier in the event is, of course, present inside the iPhone X. It has two performance cores, four high-efficiency cores, and the first Apple-designed GPU. So it’s a hexa-core SoC that’s almost entirely designed in-house by Apple, plus the Cupertino company has done a ton to optimize its internal processing and imaging hardware for augmented reality application through its highly promising ARKit framework.
The iPhone X supports Qi wireless charging, the same standard supported by the new iPhone 8 models as well as the latest flagship devices from Samsung and LG. With such universal agreement among the biggest smartphone vendors, there’s finally a chance for unified wireless charging standard to take root and penetrate into more public spaces and locations. In support of that push, Apple today also announced a wireless charging pad to unify the wireless charging of all its mobile devices, and it calls this overall system AirPower. The AirPower charging pad will be available next year.
Also on the wireless front, the iPhone X supports LTE Advanced and the Bluetooth 5.0 standard, just as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and OnePlus 5 have earlier this year. There are still no real gadgets or accessories that you can use with a Bluetooth 5 phone, but the more phones there are that support it, the more impetus there will be for compatible peripherals.
The iPhone X is priced at $999 with 64GB of storage or $1,149 with 256GB. Preorders open on October 27th, and shipping begins November 3rd. For more on the new iPhone X, read up on our first hands-on photos and impressions directly from the Apple event.
Last night’s Billboard Music Awards featured performances by millennial hitmakers, from Drake to Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus. But it was the pop veterans performing 20-year-old songs who stole the show. After performing “My Heart Will Go On,” Celine Dion caught Cher performing on the TVs backstage. Not only did she start dancing to “Believe,” but the press forgot they were working and joined her in a sing-along. It was a perfect, off-the-cuff moment where game recognized game.
Celine, of course, had her own show-stopping performance, standing beneath a mile-high chandelier that slowly rose to reveal her in all her glory. This live rendition of the Titanic track was so moving, Billboard Music Awards co-host Vanessa Hudgens teared up. Meanwhile, Cher performed greatest hits and received the Icon Award for her decades in music. “I’ve wanted to do what I do since I was 4 years old and I’ve been doing it for 53 years,” she said. “And this is not an applause thing, but I’m 71 yesterday.”

Cheat Codes’ catchy new single “No Promises” — featuring Demi Lovato, who co-wrote the song with the electric dance group — now has a music video, starring all three bandmembers plus the «Confident» pop star.
The elaborate visual traverses through the desert, abandoned buildings, outer space and panoramic mountains. Director Hannah Lux, who had previously worked with Lovato on the “Cool for the Summer” music video, captures the track’s core meaning of taking your guard down and focusing on the present rather than the past and future.

Marvel and Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 rocketed to $17 million Thursday night for the highest preview gross of 2017.
When the original film hit theaters in August 2014, it earned $11.2 million in preview screenings for the biggest pre-opening total of the year at that time. It went on to earn $94.3 million in its domestic debut, on its way to grossing $773 million globally.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, now a familiar property unlike when the original hit theaters, will easily surpass those numbers, and is tracking to earn $150 million or more in North America this weekend. It will easily land on top of the domestic box office this weekend.
Guardians Vol. 2, directed by James Gunn, sees the return of Chris Pratt as Star Lord/Peter Quill, who brings his team back together to fight off evil forces while he seeks to unravel the mystery of his parentage. Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan star along with Vin Diesel as the voice of baby Groot and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket. Elizabeth Debicki, Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone join the cast for the new installment.
Guardians Vol. 2 opened last weekend in several foreign territories representing 58 percent of the marketplace. The film has earned nearly $150 million to date offshore. It debuts in a number of other major territories this weekend, including Russia (Thursday) and China (Friday).
The film debuted in Korea on May 3 with a $3.3 million opening day ($4.4 million including previews) for the biggest opening day of 2017, the biggest May opening day, and the No. 3 opening day ever for an MCU release there. Thursday brought another $1.9M, which brings the cume to date to $6.3M with today being Children’s Day holiday.
It opened on May 4 in Russia with an estimated $2.8 million, 41 percent ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Brad Pitt is reportedly getting back into the dating scene after his split from Angelina Jolie back in September.
“[He] has been dating a bit…It’s not anything serious,” an insider told People of the 53-year-old actor. “He doesn’t have a girlfriend. It’s more of a way to get out and be social.”
“He seems more comfortable double-dating and friends are helping out,” the source added. Friends of his apparently “don’t want him to sit at home alone.”
This month, rumors spread that Brad could be dating Sienna Miller. However, she shot down those rumors!
