Shawn Mendes Reveals New Tattoo Dedicated to His Little Sister

It’s no secret that Shawn Mendes adores his little sister Aaliyah. However, he set the bar for big brothers everywhere by getting a tattoo in honor of his 16-year-old sis.

The new tat was done by LA-based celebrity tattoo artist Kane Navasard, who debuted the fresh ink on Sunday. Mendes opted to have his sister’s first and middle name, Aaliyah Marie, written in delicate cursive beneath his left collarbone — over his heart.

«A sweet dedication, on the man @shawnmendes,» Navasard captioned.

Of course, there’s plenty of comments made by jealous younger siblings remarking how nice it would be if their older sisters or brothers did something to that magnitude.

In a followup IG story, the Navasard couldn’t contain how much he loved doing the honorary tattoo, saying it was «too sweet,» and praised, «good times my guy.»

Aaliyah periodically makes cameos in her big brother’s Instagram account, mostly via adorable throwback photos.  However, Shawn’s tribute he wrote in honor of Aaliyah’s 16th birthday last September takes the cake.

«Happy 16th birthday to the most wonderful girl I know,» he captioned the series of nostalgic snaps. «I absolutely adore you.»

Likewise, the younger Mendes celebrated Shawn’s 21st birthday on her respective account last August, writing, «happy belated birthday to this rockstar… who i’m lucky to call my (now 21 year old) brother! love you soo much!»

Shawn Mendes Adorably FaceTimes Camila Cabello During John Mayer’s ‘Current Mood’ Show: Watch

0

Shawn Mendes and John Mayer took their bromance to Instagram Live on Sunday night (Nov. 17) for the latest episode of Mayer’s Current Mood Instagram show, with a special guest appearance from Mendes’ leading lady, Camila Cabello.

Most of the guys’ nearly 40-minute visit was spent bantering about random topics like Activia yogurt and hotel room towels. But in the middle, Cabello chimed in on the live chat, and naturally, Mendes and Mayer had to call her. Cabello picked up (despite being on the set of her video for «Living Proof») and she revealed that Mendes had just visited her prior to heading to Mayer’s show — where things apparently got a little awkward.

«Next thing I know, she’s doing a dance scene with this guy, and he takes his shirt off, and he’s super jacked, like shredded,» Mendes recalls. Of course, Cabello was quick to assure fans that she only has eyes for Shawn, exclaiming, «Baby, but not jacked like you!»

Before going back to filming her vid, Cabello joined Mendes and Mayer in a short and silly game of «Camila Camendes Camendes Cabello Cabello Cabelas Mendes,» which even had its own theme song. (As far as the game’s concept, trust us, the concept will be easier to understand if you just watch it.)

Once Cabello signed off, the hilarity continued, with the guys later talking about Mendes’ recent collaboration with Taylor Swift on a remix of her latest hit «Lover.» Referring to the song’s opening line, «We could leave the Christmas lights up til January,» Mayer jokingly called Swift «insane» because «everyone does that anyway.»

But before Mayer and Mendes signed off, Cabello made sure to get in one last comment: «Finish already, so Shawn can take me on a date.»

Taylor Swift Drops Swooning ‘Lover’ Remix Featuring Shawn Mendes: Listen

0

It’s the 13th of the month, and Taylor Swift’s homage to her lucky number came in the form of a «Lover» remix, featuring her old pal Shawn Mendes. «Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about something that I’m really excited about,» Swift said in a video teasing the song on Wednesday morning (Nov. 13). «There is a new version of ‘Lover’ coming, a remix featuring someone who I’m such a huge fan of and I’ve known for a really long time. And someone I have always really been dying to collaborate with.»

The spin on her album’s title track, which dropped just after midnight, keeps some of the same romantic lyrics but with a new twist provided by Mendes. «We could light a bunch of candles and dance around the kitchen baby,» Mendes sings in a breathy voice over acoustic guitars. «Pictures of when we were young they hang on the wall/ And we would sit on the stoop and I’ll sing love songs to you when we’re 80/ See I finally got you now, honey I won’t let you fall.»

«He has taken ‘Lover’ and he has re-written parts of it, which I think is so important because I love him as a writer,» Swift said of the personal touch Mendes added to the title track of her latest album. «And I also think that everybody would write a different love letter to their lover and I think his take on it is so beautiful.»

Mendes also joins Swift on the song’s reworked chorus, their voices intertwining as he later adds another layer to the mid-song breakdown, bringing the ultimate love story into the mix. «The girl in my story has always been you/ I’d go down with the Titanic, it’s true for you… Lover,» he sings before adding some falsetto ad libs as the song rushes to its conclusion.

Swift recently told Zane Lowe in an interview that her seventh album, released back in August, was “the first time I’ve written about love that was very real rather than a song like Love Story that I wrote when I was 17.”

«I feel like my priorities are in order, done some growing up, feeling good about it. And I was like, you know, what’s that going to be like to write from that place? But I didn’t even have long enough to think about that before I was writing this record.“

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello Hold Hands in N.Y.C. Before Meeting His Parents

0

Shawn Mendes and his rumored girlfriend Camila Cabello stepped out hand-in-hand for a stroll in Brooklyn, New York, on Friday, where they also met up with Mendes’ parents.

Cabello, 22, wore an oversized tie-dye hoodie with jeans for the outing, while Mendes opted for a white sweatshirt with black pants.

The pair has been seen packing on the PDA in recent weeks — including on Mendes’ 21st birthday on Thursday — but have yet to confirm their relationship.

On Friday, just one day after Mendes’ birthday, Cabello shared a sweet tribute to the “In My Blood” singer on Instagram, even dropping the L-word.

“Happy birthday to this magic human, I love you!!!! ❤️,” Cabello wrote alongside a polaroid, which shows Mendes sweetly fixing her hair.

The post came after Mendes and Cabello were spotted leaving Jack’s Wife Freda bistro in New York City on Thursday, and after he celebrated his major milestone birthday by renting out a hotel near New York City’s Brooklyn Bridge. Cabello was also in attendance at the party.

Rumors of their relationship began to fly following the debut of their steamy music video for “Señorita” in late June.

The musicians have been friends for years, and also collaborated on the song “I Know What You Did Last Summer” in 2015.

After being spotted in Los Angeles holding hands and spending the Fourth of July together, things seemed to heat up when they were seen kissing in San Francisco.

While vacationing in Miami at the end of July, the singers were again spotted kissing in the water. They were later seen holding hands as they wandered along the boardwalk enjoying the summer weather.

In a recent interview with Variety, Cabello talked about collaborating with Mendes on “Señorita,” saying, “I’ve known Shawn for such a long time and it’s so much fun getting to work and do things with somebody who means a lot to you.”

In addition, the former Fifth Harmony member discussed her upcoming album and revealed she wrote it while she was “falling in love” — seemingly referring to her ex-boyfriend Matthew Hussey, whom she split from in June after more than a year of dating.

“Falling in love is like an infinite amount of levels and layers and angles,” Cabello said. “I fell in love and just opened up. Everything was written in present moment.”

Shawn Mendes surprised fans by revealing the cover and tracklist of his self-titled, third LP in the middle of the night. As for the artwork, it veers on the surreal side with the pop star’s face being split in half by a bunch of flowers. The tracklist is just as interesting. Of course, lead single “In My Blood” is included as well as buzz track, “Lost In Japan.” However, there are a couple of surprise features (Julia Michaels hops on “Like To Be You,” while Khalid lends a verse to “Youth”).

Shawn Mendes Weathers The Elements In His “In My Blood” Video

0

Shawn Mendes is getting conceptual in his “In My Blood” video. The 19-year-old rolled out a visual in support of the sweeping, stadium rock-inspired track today (April 24), and it is a simple but effective affair. In it, he performs the single while lying on the ground as the seasons pass him by. He is bombarded with snow and rain but remains resolutely in place. After weathering the storms, the crooner is rewarded with a respite as a field of flowers bloom underneath him. The visual is a little artier than we are used to from him, but it is sure to spark conversations. And with any luck, he will also roll out a more cinematic visual in support of his companion single, “Lost In Japan.”It is practically begging for an international love story similar to his “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” treatment after all.

Promo seems to be picking up for “In My Blood” as we move into the spring. After premiering the earnest anthem last month he made a handful of late night appearances. Buoyed by those and some impressive streaming numbers (81 million and counting on Spotify to be exact), the track peaked just outside the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Last week the hitmaker brought his promo tour across the pond. He performed at Queen Elizabeth’s birthday and also made a pitstop at BBC’s Radio 1 where he performed the single and put his own spin on Post Malone’s “Psycho.”

This May he is also scheduled to take the stage at the Billboard Music Awards alongside the likes of Camila Cabello and Dua Lipa. With the video’s release and his recent appearances, Shawn is bound to see a boost on the charts in the coming weeks. With any luck the hitmaker will be able to net fourth top 10 in the US. Watch his new visual up top!

Shawn Mendes’ “Lost In Japan” Is An Atmospheric Smash

0

Shawn Mendes continues to impress. Today (March 23) he pulled off the seemingly impossible by unveiling two massive anthems in less than one week. Yesterday the 19-year-old rolled out his sweeping pop/rock extravaganza “In My Blood.” Inspired by Kings of Leon, the earnest song is the lead single to his forthcoming third LP. He followed that up with a second taste of the album on his atmospheric “Lost In Japan,” and it is another solid gold bop. On it, the crooner takes a romance international as he offers to travel the globe to be closer to his flame.

Opening with melancholic keys, it transforms into an aural, sexy production as the hitmaker comes in to drop his seductive vocals. “All it takes it one flight. We’d be in the same time zone,” he proposes as things pick up. He gets even more romantic while dropping some serious lines on the chorus. “Do you got plans tonight? I’m a couple hundred miles from Japan, and I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight. Cause I can’t get you off my mind.”

Riding a beat that feels inspired by Justin Timberlake with its funky strings and driving bass, the “There’s Nothin Holdin’ Me Back”crooner seems perfectly at ease on the innovative release. Sonically, it feels like one of his biggest risks yet, but it manages to present a new, more mature version of the superstar.

Things are off to a very good start for Shawn. One day into his new era, and he is already dominating iTunes charts and will likely make a strong debut on the Billboard Hot 100. In less than 24 hours “In My Blood” racked up more than 3 million streams on Spotify, and it is sitting comfortably at the top spot of the US iTunes. Based on how things are going, it looks like his biggest competition for the top spot will be himself. Give the track a spin below!

Shawn Mendes Kicks Off A New Era With His Sweeping “In My Blood”

0

Shawn Mendes made true on his promise to roll out a taste of new music this week. After announcing the upcoming release via a collaboration with Spotify, the 19-year-old unveiled his earnest new single, “In My Blood” today (March 22). Unsurprisingly, it sounds like another sure-fire smash. After one listen it is easy to see why the hitmaker described his latest as “the closest song to my heart” in a post on social media. The sweeping anthem offers an intimate glimpse into his deepest thoughts.

“Help me. It’s like the walls are caving in. Sometimes I feel like giving up, but I just can’t. It isn’t in my blood,” he croons over acoustic strings on the opening lines. His voice resonates with strength as the production picks up and he moves into the chorus. Here, Shawn incorporates a pop/rock instrumental that is sure to find plenty of love on radio. With lyrics about battling insecurities and loneliness, the track is incredibly relatable. However, instead of buckling under the pressure, the superstar presents his resilience. In all, it is a moving and inspiring track and a wonderful taste of things to come.

“In My Blood” appears to be the lead single for Shawn’s forthcoming third LP. We don’t know much about the project yet, but he has teased its release several times lately. Based on our first impressions, it seems likely he will have another chart-topper on his hands. Keep an eye peeled for a mysterious second song dropping tomorrow (March 23). Until then, give Shawn’s latest a spin below!

«In My Blood» is set to hit Spotify then, and Mendes gave fans a head’s up with some floral artwork for the track, along with a preview link for the song on the streaming service.

The «There’s Nothing Holding Me Back» singer indicated that fans should keep their eyes peeled for both March 22 and March 23, and billboards in New York are leading fans to believe that an update on his third full-length could immediately follow the drop of «In My Blood.» His prior albums, 2015’s Handwritten and 2016’s Illuminate, both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Mendes has been mysterious and tight-lipped regarding new music, with shirtless pics and the aforementioned dates serving as the only clues for his next musical chapter.
