Meghan Trainor Teases Snippet of New Collab With Nicki Minaj: Listen

0

Meghan Trainor thinks it’s «Nice To Meet Ya» with her latest release, out this Friday (Jan. 31) and featuring none other than Nicki Minaj. The joint track will arrive on the same day as Trainor’s third studio album Treat Myself.

Last Wednesday (Jan. 22), the «Wave» singer released her almost complete track list featuring 15 songs that she had previously encoded via emojis. The second track had still not been unveiled to her fans and only showed an image of shaking hands, which presumably is the «Nice To Meet Ya» track she was waiting until today (Jan. 28) to talk about.

«The rumors are true,» Trainor tweeted with a smirking emoji today. «#NiceToMeetYa featuring my QUEEN @NICKIMINAJ …out on Friday!»

Meghan Trainor Is Trying to Love Herself as Much as You Do on Emotional ‘Workin’ On It’: Listen

0

«‘Tryna see what you see when you look at me.»

You would think that Meghan Trainor has it all figured out. She’s a world-renowned pop star, songwriter, Grammy and Billboard Music Award winner and chart queen. But on the latst single from her upcoming third album Treat Myself, the contemplative ballad «Workin’ On It,» Trainor turns the focus inward to reveal all the hard work she’s been doing to accept who she is, how she is.

The King Henry-produced song featuring Lennon Stella and Sasha Sloan is about learning to accept and believe compliments. «Never been asked to dance/ ‘Cause I never been the pretty one/ Never like compliments/ ‘Cause it’s always been so hard believin’ them,» she whisper sings over spare guitar and a heartbeat rhythm. «You say I’m beautiful/ And I say you’re full of it/ Nothing personal/ I’m still not used to this/ But I’m workin’ on, workin’ on it/ Workin’ on, workin’ on it.»

Treat Myself is due out on Jan. 31 and fans have already gotten a taste of it through «No Excuses» and «Waves.»

Speaking to fellow pop icon Kelly Clarkson recently on the Kelly Clarkson Show, Trainor explained that the song is very special to her because «the hardest part, I think, about today, especially with social media is, you know, everyone is like ‘just be confident’ and that’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard cause it’s so hard to be confident,» she said. «It’s so hard to turn it on and be confident, and I wrote this one with my two girls. It’s about how when someone compliments you and you’re, like, ‘stop it.’ You know how we all do that? We’re like ‘ew, what do you mean?’ and I’m working on it… I’m gonna start to try to be more confident and start to love myself and start to hear comments and be like, ‘Yeah, you’re right.'»

Meghan Trainor Announces New Singles “Let You Be Right” & “Can’t Dance”

0

Edit: This post has been updated with new information about Meghan’s singles.

Meghan Trainor is releasing two new singles tomorrow (May 10), “Let You Be Right” and “Can’t Dance.” And they both seem to be club-oriented. A preview of the former is literally accompanied by a video of spinning disco ball, while she wears ’90s-inspired nightclub attire on the cover of the latter. Dropping dual singles is a wise move in the age of streaming (fans can choose which song they prefer and the label can run with it), so this should give us a good idea of what to expect from the “All About That Bass” diva’s long-awaited third LP.

Meghan will be hoping that “Let You Be Right” and “Can’t Dance” find more love than “No Excuses,” which peaked at a disappointing number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track seems to be pleasing the faithful (it’s still top 20 on iTunes), but streaming numbers were low and it didn’t find a lot of love at radio. A couple of retro floorfillers could be just what she needs to snatch another massive hit. After all, it’s a strategy that worked for Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake. Check out the covers and a preview below.

Meghan Trainor’s “No Excuses” Is The Sassy Pop Bop We Need In 2018

0

Meghan Trainor is back, and she returned on one of the sassiest pop bops in recent memory. The 24-year-old rolled out her highly anticipated single, “No Excuses,” today (March 1), and she has a serious hit on her hands. Following in the footsteps of feisty material like “Lips Are Moving” and “No,” her latest is a confident take-down of a boy who is not treating her with respect.

“What you sipping on that got you talking crazy? Looking at me sideways, always coming at me. Why you, why you acting hard when you just a baby. Boy, I keep it real with you, but you trying to play me,” she belts over an incandescent beat courtesy of Andrew Wells. “Your mama raised you better than that,” Meghan proclaims on the chorus. Armed with the fiery production and playful lyrics, she sounds right at home on the hot track, and if possible the music video is even more fun.

Directed by Colin Tilley, it is a pastel-hued thing of beauty that sees the pop star and two clones of herself dancing along to the track. Rocking some chic looks and delivering cute choreography, it is a fun spectacle that is sure to give the single a promotional boost. Meghan is scheduled to perform “No Excuses” on The Ellen DeGeneres Showtomorrow (March 2) so she is clearly aiming for a quick takeover. If she plays her cards right, she should be able to kickstart her new era with another top 10 hit. Give the single a listen and check out the video up top!

Meghan Trainor Reveals The Cover Of “No Excuses,” Teases The Video

0

Meghan Trainor announced that she’s releasing a new single called “No Excuses” late on Friday night. Since then, she’s has been counting down the days to its March 1 release with daily teasers and updates. Earlier this morning (February 26), the “Me Too” diva unveiled the cover art as well as a glimpse of the video. As for the former, The Four judge looks pretty in (pastel) pink. As for the visual? It looks bright and colorful, evoking the carefree fun of the Title era.

“No Excuses” was produced by Andrew Wells and is expected to be a banger. (Meghan promised to deliver them in an Instagram post in November). It also sounds extremely feisty. “Have you lost your mind… open up your eyes,” is one notable lyric. The newly-engaged hitmaker has been teasing the song for a while now. “First single is comin so soon,” she revealed in an Instagram story last week. “When you have a new single coming out and the anticipation drives you crazy,” the pop star mused in another update. Check out the cover and video teaser below.

We even know who she’s been working with.

“MOOD about the new bangers we wrote these last two weeks,” Meghan captioned a selfie in November. “Losing my [Shit].” She tagged Tyler Johnson (Sam Smith and Harry Styles), Andrew Wells (Chappell Roan and Corey Harper), J Kash(Charlie Puth and Maroon 5), LunchMoney Lewis (Jason Derulo and Zara Larsson), Tobias Jesso Jr. (AdeleSia and Pink) and Josh Kear (Keith Urbanand Florida Georgia Line).
