Lady Gaga Awarded Key to West Hollywood as Mayor Declares “Born This Way Day”

0

Lady Gaga’s album Born This Way celebrated its 10th anniversary on Sunday, and to mark the occasion, the City of West Hollywood officially declared May 23 “Born This Way Day.” Gaga was also awarded the key to the city by West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey P. Horvath. “Thank you for encouraging us to love ourselves and be proud,” Horvath told Gaga. A street painting featuring the album’s title was also unveiled today to kick off West Hollywood’s Pride season.

Born This Way, my song and album, were inspired by Carl Bean, a gay black religious activist who preached, sung and wrote about being ‘Born This Way.’ Notably his early work was in 1975, 11 years before I was born,” Gaga wrote. “Thank you for decades of relentless love, bravery, and a reason to sing. So we can all feel joy, because we deserve joy. Because we deserve the right to inspire tolerance, acceptance, and freedom for all.”

Here’s the Real Meaning Behind Lady Gaga’s Gold Dove Brooch From Her Inauguration Outfit

0

Peace was on Lady Gaga’s mind and on her heart when she wore a giant gold dove brooch during her performance of the national anthem at the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris Wednesday (Jan. 20).

The internet mused over her Hunger Games-style outfit — a billowing, floor-length custom Schiaparelli red gown, long-sleeved black top and black leather gloves — and compared the dove brooch to Katniss Everdeen’s mockingjay pin. But the pop superstar took to Twitter to share the sentiment behind her accessory and her hope for the divided nation.

«A dove carrying an olive branch. May we all make peace with each other,» Gaga wrote after her performance.

Her dove pin complemented her gold microphone that she belted a powerful rendition of «The Star-Spangled Banner» into, shortly before the former senator and two-term VP Biden and history-making former Sen. Harris took their oaths of office.

The «Million Reasons» singer sent a prayer of peace on Tuesday during her rehearsal from the U.S. Capitol, which faced a violent attack on Jan. 6 when a mob of Trump supporters stormed the building. «I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol,» she wrote above a shot of her under the Capitol Rotunda.

Lady Gaga podría protagonizar su próxima película junto a Brad Pitt

0

Freak Out: Lady Gaga Set Has Been Added as a VMAs Performer

Lady Gaga

Gaga is coming back to the VMAs on a career high.

Lady Gaga has been added to the lineup of performers for the VMAs on Aug. 30. The superstar announced the news on social media Thursday (Aug. 13).

MTV didn’t reveal what song(s) Gaga will perform, other than to say that she “will bring her chart-topping album, Chromatica, to life” and that it will be “the world premiere televised performance of her latest release.”

It will be Gaga’s fourth VMAs performance; her first since she opened the 2013 telecast with “Applause.» Gaga also performed on the VMAs in 2011 (teaming with Brian May for «Yoü and I») and 2009 (performing “Poker Face” and “Paparazzi”).

Previously-announced performers are BTS, Doja Cat, J Balvin, The Weeknd, Roddy Ricch, Maluma and CNCO. Keke Palmer is set to host the show.

Gaga is tied with Ariana Grande for the most nominations this year — nine each.

Gaga has won 13 VMAs — a total topped by just two artists in VMAs history: Beyoncé with 24 and Madonna with 20. Gaga’s video for “Bad Romance” won seven awards at the 2010 show, including video of the year. Only one other video has won seven or more awards. Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” won nine awards at the 1987 show.

Gaga is coming back to the VMAs on a career high. She won an Oscar for best original song for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born in early 2019. She was also nominated for best actress. Her current album, Chromatica, entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1, her sixth album to top that chart. “Rain on Me,” her collab with Grande, entered the Hot 100 at No. 1, allowing Gaga to set a new record for the longest span of No. 1-debuting singles. It was nine years, three months and one week since she opened in the top spot with “Born This Way.”

Seven of Gaga’s VMA nods this year are for “Rain on Me.” She is also nominated for artist of the year and in the new best quarantine performance category for her cover of the pop standard “Smile” from One World: Together at Home, which aired in syndication on April 18.

Gaga’s VMAs performance could boost Chromatica’s chances of landing a Grammy nomination for album of the year. Gaga was nominated for the top Grammy for The Fame (2009), The Fame Monster (2010) and Born This Way (2011).

Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including video of the year and artist of the year through Aug. 23 at vma.mtv.com. Voting for PUSH best new artist presented by Chime Banking will remain open until the show is on the air.

Lady Gaga attends The 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 6, 2019 in New York City.

Lady Gaga scored a Billboard 200 No. 1 album after creating her own world of Chromatica, so what do the Little Monsters win if they create their own Chromatica?

Well, Mother Monster partnered up with Adobe and Live Nation today (June 24) to challenge her fans to illustrate their inner world based on Gaga’s made-up planet rooted in equality.

«My fans have consistently shown their love and creativity through their art over the years, and always make me feel so happy and understood. I can’t wait to see what Chromatica means to them,» the Grammy award-winning singer said in a press release.

Creatives from all over the world can tap into their imagination with Photoshop, Illustrator, Spark and more Adobe applications to bring their abstract world to life while using exclusive assets curated by Gaga, such as her Chromatica-era photos, illustrations, logos, icons and typography. Once participants fully capture their visions, they can share them on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #LadyGagaxAdobe from today until the contest closes on July 21.

«Adobe’s mission has always been to empower people to express themselves creatively. Now more than ever, creativity is being used to speak out against inequality, cope in the midst of a pandemic, and, hopefully, build bridges with one another,» said Ann Lewnes, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Adobe, in the release. «Who better to join forces with than one of the most creative and compassionate people in the universe, Lady Gaga, to empower our community to build worlds that unite us all.»

One grand prize winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize, a high-quality print of their artwork autographed by the Chromatica artist herself, and a 12-month Adobe All-Apps Creative Cloud Subscription. Meanwhile, nine second-place winners will score a $400 cash prize, an autographed Gaga poster and a 3-month Adobe All-Apps Creative Cloud Subscription.

Lady Gaga performs onstage during SiriusXM + Pandora Present Lady Gaga At The Apollo on June 24, 2019 in New York City.

Lady Gaga sprinkled some Willy Wonka-style dust on her Little Monsters on Thursday (May 28) with the surprise release of her Blackpink collab, «Sour Candy.» The mouth-puckeringly sweet dance pop confection co-produced by BURNS and frequent collaborator BloodPop is a 2:38 bi-lingual bop that finds Gaga trading off verses with the South Korean girl group’s members as they spin a tale of enticing love that requires some genuine, hard-to-crack effort.

«I might be messed up, but I know that’s love/ You want a real taste, at least I’m not fake/ Come, come unwrap me,» Gaga deadpans over a bouncy house beat following the teasing chorus from Blackpink’s Jennie and Lisa, «I’m sour candy, so sweet then I get a little angry, yeah/ Sour candy, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah/ I’m super psycho, make you crazy when I turn the light’s low.»

«Sour Candy» is the third track from Gaga’s upcoming sixth studio album, Chromatica (May 29), following on the heels of the Ariana Grande collab «Rain on Me» and first single, «Stupid Love.» The album will also feature a duet with one of Gaga’s longtime heroes and friend, Elton John on «Sine From Above.» The singer is so excited about the release that she tweeted out a picture on Wednesday in which she trundled into a Chromatica-themed truck to personally deliver copies of the album to retailers all around the world.

Lady Gaga took to her Instagram to announce the postponement of her upcoming album, Chromatica. The LP was slated for release on April 10th.

“I wanted to tell you, that after a lot of deliberation, I’ve made the incredibly tough decision to postpone the release of Chromatica,” she wrote. “I will announce a new 2020 release date soon. This is such a hectic and scary time for all of us,” she continued, “and while I believe art is one of the strongest things we have to provide joy and healing to each other during times like this, it just doesn’t feel right for me to release this album with all that going on during this global pandemic.”

The singer also addressed the postponement of her Las Vegas residency, with MGM Resorts postponing all shows through May 10th. Three shows on May 13th, 15th and 16th are still for sale. “I’m hopeful that my other Vegas shows in May will continue, and we’ll update you as soon as we have any new information,” she wrote. “I also definitely plan to see you on the road for my Chromatica Ball tour this summer! Chromatica is still very much on the way and I can’t wait.”

“I had so many fun things planned for us to celebrate together,” she added. “I had a secret Coachella set lined up, and a lot of other fun surprises, some of which I’m still planning to share with all of you very soon! I hope you can see that when the album does come out, I want us to be able to dance together, sweat together, hug and kiss each other, and make the most bombastic celebration of all time.”

Chromatica is Gaga’s sixth LP. She recently released the single “Stupid Love.” “I live on Chromatica,” she told Zane Lowe of the record. “I found Earth. I deleted it. Earth is canceled. Chromatica is a frame of mind.”
