Vocals For Days: Christina Aguilera Revisits The Hits On ‘Carpool Karaoke’

0

Christina Aguilera revisited some of her biggest hits and dropped some hot Mickey Mouse Club gossip during a segment of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. The 37-year-old agreed to keep the late night comedian company on his drive to work last night (April 23). On the way, they revisited her forever iconic LP Stripped with performances of anthems including “Fighter” and “Beautiful.” Delivering soaring vocals and just the right amount of nostalgia, Xtina paid tribute to her legacy while revisiting her debut release “Genie In A Bottle.”

Going back to the start, she and James talked about her days on Mickey Mouse Club with Britney SpearsJustin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling. “Oh my God, you’re going in,” the big-voiced diva giggled as the host asked the hard-hitting questions about who she had a crush on back then. She admitted that JT had “swag” and alluded to some drama between her and Brit over his attention. Meanwhile, Ryan apparently had a crush on the “Toxic” siren. Talk about a love circle that was made for the tabloids.

During a performance of “Dirrty,” Melissa McCarthy made a surprise appearance to deliver Redman’s featured rap. The Lotus flower contributed a song called “Feels So Good” to the actress’ forthcoming film, Life of the Party, so the cameo seems like the beginning of a promotional tour. Of course, Xtina proceeded to give Melissa and James diva lessons and showcased her extensive vocal range. In all, it was one of the more memorable Carpool Karaoke’s in recent memory.

Noticeable absent from the appearance was any mention of the icon’s imminent comeback. Reports suggest her caviar ratchet opus is on the way, but we are unsure when. Last time Legend X provided an update, she kept things to the point by promising “it’s coming bitches.”Eventually. Despite appearing as a guest judge on a recent episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race and delivering a stunning photoshoot for Paper, Xtina has remained tight-lipped about the project in favor of highlighting past achievements.

Anticipation is sky-high for the elusive CA8, but it looks like she is going to leave us guessing a little longer. While we wait, watch her segment up top!

Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Hugh Jackman Join James Corden in a Hilarious ‘Crosswalk Musical’: Watch

0

Broadway on Broadway! James Corden had some fun with the stars of The Greatest Showman during Thursday night’s Late Late Show. Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Hugh Jackman all joined the British host for his popular segment “Crosswalk Musical.”

As the group prepared for their performance in the streets of New York City, there was some tension between Jackman and Corden.

“I’ve always admired what James has done on the crosswalk. It’s super clear that he has a great mind for theater. I have a feeling with my input, we can really take this thing to the next level,” Jackman said before trying to offer Corden some advice.

“Look, Huge, is a very talented man,” Corden said, purposefully mispronouncing the actor’s name, “but he’s got to realize that while he might be playing ‘The Greatest Showman,’ I have to living up to the mantle of actually being ‘The Greatest Showman.’”

When they started feuding, Corden mocked the Wolverine star, joking, “Why don’t get you get your claws out, you great sissy?”

But the pair moved past their tiff, putting on the show. Despite the actors’ enthusiasm, some seemed confused by the entire concept.

“This is not the best way to do a musical, or cross the street,” a concerned Efron said. “I was skeptical at first. Definitely, still skeptical.”

Zendaya added, “That was amazing. It exceeded all of my expectations. That being said, there was a mugging going on that we did absolutely nothing about. Other than that, it was great.”

Kelly Clarkson’s Carpool Karaoke Doubles as a Romantic Date With Husband Brandon Blackstock

0

It’s about time!

Kelly Clarkson finally got in the passenger seat of James Corden‘s car on The Late Late Showand in what might be a first for the segment, she found herself on a romantic date with none other than her husband, Brandon Blackstock.

Unfortunately his idea of romance is talking about reports from the farm, but it was a nice idea, and Kelly sure seemed delighted.

The little jaunt to work was mostly a showcase for Kelly’s voice, which is still just a delight.

She and Corden jammed out and harmonized to a bunch of her hits, including «Since U Been Gone,» «Because of You,» «Stronger,» and the newer «Love So Soft,» and Kelly proved that she can even sing about receipts and make it sound pretty damn good.Maybe next time she could even try singing some of those farm reports!

Pink’s Carpool Karaoke Proves She Can Really Sing While Upside Down

0

Finally, Pink took a ride in James Corden‘s car and it was a pretty darn good time.

They sang, they laughed, and it was barely two minutes before the duo was pulling over and learning a dance routine to Pink’s song «What About Us,» with moves like «drama» and «drama, but not too much.»

There was also some definitely starting of the party, thanks to Pink’s classic «Get the Party Started,» and some discussion of that time Pink went on a date with Joey Fatone when she opened for NSYNC.

This Carpool Karaoke also taught us that Pink once received a pair of pants from Jon Bon Jovi and she thinks she sings better when she’s upside down, which she and James then tried to do. She proved she’s got some of the most incredible pipes in music (obviously) while James proved he should probably not try that again.

James Corden and «Stranger Things» Kid Stars Perform in Motown Group «The Upside Downs» And It’s Kind of Great

0

The Hawkins Five! Turns out the child stars of Stranger Things – Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and Noah Schnapp – have a musical past… well, sort of.

On Wednesday’s The Late Late Show, host James Corden revealed that he was once in a Motown cover band with the Netflix stars.

“People thought it was weird that James hung out with us because he was an adult, but we actually went to school with him. He was held back a couple of years, but we’re in the same grade,” Wolfhard jokingly explained during the clip.

“The boys and I, we have so much in common. We love playing video games, we all like taking naps, most importantly, we all love Motown,” Corden said. “We sold out a retirement home for old folks and we killed. We killed, literally.”

When the group all went in to audition for Stranger Things – with Corden going “method” as Eleven, the British host was bummed to be the only one not cast.

“I’ll be fine as long as I don’t end up wearing a suit and sitting behind a desk,” he quipped.

And though the boys went on to have great success, McLaughlin noted, “That band was still the most creatively fulfilling thing I’ve ever been a part of.”

So “The Upside Downs” reunited for an epic performance on the CBS show, which featured a medley of songs from The Jackson 5, The Temptations, and The Four Tops. Turns out, the boys have some killer moves.

Charlie Puth Is Close to Vomiting During James Corden’s ‘Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts’

0

It’s safe to say, Charlie Puth may never go on The Late Late Show again. The 25-year-old “Attention” singer participated in a group game of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” alongside side Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, Michelle Dockery and host James Corden.

He teamed up with Josh and Rachel to pit the Americans against the Brits, but before the game even began he was looking queasy.

“Charlie just said, ‘Feel my heart,’ and he said, ‘This is the most nervous I’ve ever been,’” Corden said laughing at the singer.

“It’s just, I have a really — people who know me — I have a very, very sensitive stomach. I can’t even been around Brussel sprouts, much less this stuff,” he said, while looking like a table filled with items like cow tongue, jellyfish, grasshopper, a salmon and seaweed smoothie, and bird saliva.

Corden then placed one of the items under Charlie’s nose, prompting him to immediately start gagging.

“I really want Charlie Puth to throw up on television,” Josh quipped.

Things only got worse as the game went on. When Corden took a big bite out of a cow’s tongue, Charlie picked up his bucket and started gagging again.

“No, stop, don’t look at me while you’re doing it,” he said.

He was also forced to drink bird saliva when Rachel got her question wrong. And when Corden asked him who was a better singer between his past collaborators Selena Gomez and Meghan Trainor, he chose to eat a grasshopper instead of answering.

Miley Cyrus Embraces «Wrecking Ball,» Reveals How She Got in Trouble on «The Voice» in New «Carpool Karaoke»

0

Miley Cyrus joined James Corden for an all new «Carpool Karaoke» on Tuesday’s Late Late Show, and the singer reflected on her past body of work– including her much-maligned «Wrecking Ball» video.

Cyrus — who has spoken out several times about her multitude of regretsregarding the risqué music video — seemed to have no qualms with performing the song itself.

Together, Corden and Cyrus sang along to the power ballad and the two got super into performing the emotional tune.

As they sang, Cyrus belted out the lyrics with intense passion and held hands with Corden, who actually got a little choked up as the track came to an end.

After the powerful karaoke duet, the 24-year-old pop star opened up about crying in the iconic video, and admitted that they were actually her tears.

«I really was crying though, I mean it wasn’t [fake],» Cyrus explained. «I thought about my puppy. I had a puppy that had died and it was like my number one, so I thought about my puppy the whole time. That’s how much I loved my puppy.»

The Younger Now artist admitted that she was also incredibly high — a «10 out of 10» — when riding around on the giant wrecking ball while shooting the video.

However, she said she wasn’t even a little stoned when she delivered her controversial VMAs performance in 2013 that saw her twerking and grinding on Robin Thicke.

«I can’t smoke before I go on stage. I get too scared,» Cyrus explained to an incredulous Corden. «That’s just me. That’s how scary, that’s how insane I am. That’s just normal.»

While that raunchy performance set the tone for Cyrus’s career for several years — and earned her a massive amount of derision from critics and even many fans — the singer said that it was actually a pivotal moment for her when it came to her social consciousness.

«[It] led me to being the activist I am now, because I realized if that many people were gonna talk about something that I did or something that I do, then I should make it a good thing,» she explained. «I should make it something that can change people’s lives, rather than be a controversial conversation that does nothing but become a fun Halloween costume for people.»

Cyrus also reflected on how she feels that part of her raunchy past was an attempt to distance herself from her Hannah Montana persona, but as she’s matured, she’s come to appreciate every aspect of her past.

«I love that that was me and is me and is a part of me,» Cyrus said of her days as a child star. «I’ve allowed that childhood-self to shine through a little more [now], because I’m not trying to run away from it. I’m down to embrace it. And I think everyone should embrace who they used to be, because it’s made you who you are now.»

Cyrus has matured a lot since her four seasons on the hit Disney Channel show and the ensuing hypersexual stage antics during her Bangerz Tour — she’s even quit smoking weed, though she admits she still really wants to smoke, all the time.

That doesn’t mean she hasn’t been getting in trouble all together — especially when it comes to getting in car accidents.

«The most recent was a pretty good one,» Cyrus said of her string of wrecks over the years. «I was at The Voice set and I was the last one to leave, and I backed my car into the sound trailer. But I didn’t tell anyone, I just left. So I did a hit and run.»

Laughing, Cyrus recalled how the crash was so bad it shattered her window and she ended up having to get a rental car.

«I had to go back the next day!» Cyrus continued, explaining that she didn’t want to raise anyone’s suspicions, so she called up her manager to try and get a new parking spot farther from the set.

«So I didn’t tell them [about the accident], I show up in my rental car, and then I go and tell Adam and Blake,» she recalled. «I’m like, ‘You’re not going to believe what I did last night. I totally f**king wrecked The Voice sound trailer!’ But I was mic’d! So the sound people knew it was me. I told on myself, even though I went through all the craziness to not get busted.»

Cyrus’ turn on «Carpool Karaoke» comes after she just wrapped up «Miley Week» on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she joined the host for different bits and performances during every episode of the week.

James Corden’s 10 Best Non-Carpool Karaoke «Late, Late Show» Sketches

0

Featuring One Direction, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Tambor and many more.

Since James Corden took over CBS’ The Late, Late Show in 2015, the British comedian has brought infinite hilarious parodies, sketches and musical bits to the late night program.

Corden’s pioneered «Carpool Karaoke» may be the major hit segment of the 12:35 a.m. time slot show, but he’s also managed to get some of the biggest stars in Hollywood to participate many other just as entertaining skits.

Below, Billboard pulled together some of Corden’s best non-«Carpool Karaoke» skits.

«The Boyega is Mine» – Brandy/Monica parody

On Wednesday, emerging actor John Boyega became the center of a pun for Corden’s latest musical parody, a rip on the 1998 video for Brandy and Monica’s hit «The Boy is Mine.» Dressed in seductive pajamas, Corden is joined by Transparentstar Jeffrey Tambor vying for the affection of the young Star Wars leading man.

«A Visual Monologue» – Beyonce Lemonade parody

Beyoncé’s groundbreaking Lemonade inspired millions of fans, including Corden who made his own clip inspired by the visual album. Rather than kicking off his late night show with his typical monologue, he made “A Visual Monologue” featuring jabs at Donald Trump like his opening sequence normally would while mirroring a number of Queen Bey’s videos fit with a knock off of her signature yellow gown and fur coat.

James Corden races Usain Bolt

“Self-proclaimed fastest man in the world” Corden, his team at CBS and Owen Wilson once faced off against 9-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt in a riveting track race. Though you can expect who came out on top, the event was still a spectacle of “two titans of fitness going head to head.”

«Crosswalk the Musical: Beauty and the Beast«

Corden often performs stripped down, short versions of major musicals outside of CBS studios in his «Crosswalk the Musical» sketch. In his performance of Beauty and the Beast, Corden whipped the cast including film stars Josh Gad, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans into shape before they could make their debut in the middle of the L.A. streets. As Belle, Corden gives a performance almost as great as Emma Watson in the feature film.

«Spill Your Guys or Fill Your Guts» with Niall Horan, Isla Fisher and Ewan McGregor

One of Corden’s more repulsive reoccurring sketches is his “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” in which his celebrity guests are forced to answer tough questions or eat disgusting delicacies like cow tongue or scorpions. In this particularly giddy, laughable rendition, Niall Horan dodges who his least favorite member of One Direction is and asks actor Ewan McGregor if he’s ever s— his pants. Answer: He said he did in the ’90s to get out of eating bird saliva.

Harry Styles and James Corden can’t stop singing

Harry Styles stopped by the Late, Late Show for a full week in summer 2017, making for a week of hilarious antics and musical bits. In one skit, the two played doctors, funeral parlor workers, and members of bomb squad who just can’t help but danceable sing classics like Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual,” Lou Bega’s jam “Mambo No. 5” and Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.” Throughout the clip, the two candidly have a hard time keeping it together.

«Drop the Mic» with Anne Hathaway

Did you know Anne Hathaway can rap? Well, the actress certainly can freestyle some mean lines and proved that in a rap battle with Corden. The two faced-off and took hits at each other’s acting careers (or lack thereof) and lyrical skills in a surprisingly heated “Drop the Mic” bit.

«D&J Briefs»

Fashion and soccer star David Beckham knows how to give the camera a sexy, smoldering look, which has earned him a number of major fashion campaigns throughout his career. Since Corden also embodies the model-esque aura of Beckham, the two teamed up to create a dramatic infomercial for D&J Briefs: Underwear for a man with a great body.

James Corden and Tom Hanks act out Hanks’ Filmography

Tom Hanks is one of America’s most treasured actors and has played some iconic roles throughout his lifetime-long career. Though it seems like a challenge, leave it to Corden and a green screen to act out every movie in Hank’s filmography in just a few minutes including all the Meg Ryan/Hanks rom-com classics, Forest GumpSaving Private Ryan and many, many more.

One Direction plays dodge ball

Luckily, One Direction had Corden to thank so the group could finally live out their dreams as a dodge ball team. In a hilarious bit, the boy band gets a training session from Corden before they have to face off against professional team the Ball Busters. Of course, the game gets heated and their sportsmanship gets put to the test.

Will Smith Gets Jiggy With James Corden in Epic Celeb-Packed ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Sing-Along: Watch!

0

On your mark, ready, set, let’s go! Will Smith and James Corden are taking to the road in the new Carpool Karaoke series for Apple Music.

The pair started things off by jamming out to “Getting Jiggy With It,” before Corden interrupted Smith in the middle of his pig Latin verse.

“It feels like it’s such a big tune. I feel like we need more. I’ve actually been working on this new surround sound system,” Corden insisted.

The British late night host then brought out a full marching band to perform with Smith as the pair of funnyman climbed out of the car’s sunroof to continue singing the song.

Corden also asked Smith about his start as a rapper.

“I wrote my first rhyme when I was 12,” Smith said. “It never got released. The first one that got released, I was 16, ‘Girls Ain’t Nothing But Trouble.’ I had a record on the radio for the last 30 days as a senior. You cannot beat your friends in high school knowing you have a hit record on the radio.”

And while Corden and Smith had fun spitting lyrics “Big Willie Style,” they weren’t the only celebs involved in the new spin-off series.

The extended trailer also showed Game of Thrones stars Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner belting out Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, and will.i.am rocking to “It Takes Two,” Ariana Grande and Seth MacFarlane embracing their inner Broadway stars singing “Suddenly Seymour” from Little Shop of Horrors.

Other stars to perform in the series include Chelsea Handler, Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Billy Eichner, LeBron James, John Cena, Taraji P. Henson, Shaquille O’Neal, Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Miley Cyrus and the whole Cyrus family, Joe Jonas, Camila Cabello, and more.

Usher’s Carpool Karaoke: Watch Him Give James Corden Dance Lessons and Shine His Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

0

Care to take a spin with Usher?

The 38-year-old R&B singer was the latest celebrity to sit in the passenger seat of James Corden‘s car as part of «Carpool Karaoke,» a recurring segment on The Late Late Show. In Tuesday’s episode, Corden picked up his pal and asked his favorite question: «Do you mind if we listen to some music?» The answer was obvious—and musically appropriate, of course: «Yeah!»

Corden complimented Usher on being «such a good dancer.» As it turned out, he was eager to demonstrate some of his own moves. «Would I be able to show you what I’ve got in the club and you just tell me—give me some pointers—where I’m going wrong? When I step up in the club, poppin’ bottles—you know, like when I’m out, poppin’ bottles in the club?» he said. «You know what I’m talking about right? I get table service. Turn it up. Poppin’ bottles. That’s basically it, isn’t it? It’s turnin’ up, steppin’ into the club, poppin’ bottles in the club, turnin’ up.»

With Outkast‘s «So Fresh and So Clean» booming from the car’s speakers, Usher gave Corden some tips for rolling up in the club. «I feel like I’m in a Broadway show,» the host said. Luckily, Usher knew just what Corden needed to do to improve. «Take the Fosse hands out of it!» he advised. «Swag! Swag! Swag, homie!» After a few more lessons, Corden admitted defeat. «Yeah, I’m never going to the club with you,» he said. «No chance I’m ever going to the club with you.»

Once they were back in the car, it was time to sing «Burn.» Along the way, they decided to pull over to look at Usher’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. «I just find it odd,» the singer said. «You work all of these years—as hard as you can—only to have people walk over you as a star.» To remedy the problem, Usher and Corden decided to shine his star before taking a few selfies.

With that out of the way, they were free to sing «Caught Up» in the car. Afterward, Corden asked Usher about becoming a «full-on vegan,» only to learn that he may not be vegan at all. «I’ve been trying to stay away from meat…I had some really thin sliced beef yesterday,» Usher said. «I’ve been really focused on being a vegan. I like beef, and I like chicken, but I’m a vegan.»

Usher said he decided to become a vegan because of his son, a self-proclaimed vegetarian who also eats chicken. «OK, just so you know, that means you’re not a vegan,» Corden told Usher, who couldn’t help but laugh at himself. «You can’t tell people you’re a vegan but eat chicken and beef…That’s like saying, ‘I don’t drink at all; I only drink beer, cider, vodka and red wine.»

As the ride rolled on, Usher and Corden sang «I Don’t Mind» and debated the message in its lyrics. As «OMG» began, they hopped out of the car to push a car that had stalled on the street.

«We’re putting out fires all over the place today,» Corden said. After it was over, Usher said, «I had no idea when I got in your car that I would be pushing cars and also cleaning my own star.»
