Iggy Azalea has been pretty quiet lately, and now we know one tiny reason why. In an Instagram Story, the rapper revealed on Wednesday (June 10) that she is now a mother.

«I have a son,» she wrote in a message to fans. «I kept waiting for the right time to say something but if feels like the more time passes the more I realize I’m always going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world.»

At press time the Australian-born «Lola» rapper (born Amethyst Amelia Kelly), 30, had not shared the name of the baby’s father or any additional information about when the baby was born. «I want to keep his life private but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret & I love him beyond words,» she wrote of why she’s been quiet about the happy news despite rumors swirling for months that she was a new mom.

A spokesperson for Azalea has not yet responded to a request for comment.

In May, Azalea took to social media to show off her curves in the wake of rumors she recently gave birth to her first child with fellow rapper Playboi Carti. «For the record, I didn’t actually go anywhere. Just a lil harmless quarantine dress up situation,» she captioned the post, in which she’s seen strutting across a darkened driveway in a curve-hugging lilac velvet minidress. In a separate post, she showed off her glam makeup from the look with a simple purple heart emoji.

Azalea returned from a self-imposed social media break earlier in March by sharing her first post since Dec. 31, 2019.

Pink, Katy Perry, Charli XCX & More Respond to Neil Portnow’s “Step Up” Comment

Just when you thought the Grammys couldn’t be any more out of touch, Recording Academy president Neil Portnow responded to male artists sweeping all major categories by suggesting, among other things, that women need to “step up.” I’m not joking. “It has to begin with… women who have the creativity in their hearts and souls, who want to be musicians, who want to be engineers, producers, and want to be part of the industry on the executive level… [They need] to step up because I think they would be welcome,” he told Variety.

The backlash was swift and brutal with Pink leading the way. “Women in music don’t need to ‘step up’ — women have been stepping since the beginning of time,” she wrote in a handwritten letter. “Stepping up, and also steppin aside. Women OWNED music this year. They’ve been KILLING IT. And every year before this. When we celebrate and honor the talent and [accomplishments] of women, and how much women STEP UP every year, against all odds, we show the next generation of women and girls and boys and men what it means to be equal, and what it looks like to be fair.”

“Another powerful woman, leading by example,” Katy Perry responded to Pink’s message. “We ALL have a responsibility to call out the absurd lack of equality everywhere we see it. I’m proud of ALL the women making incredible art in the face of continual resistance.” Charli XCX was less diplomatic. “Ugh bout 2 step up on 2 ur face.. women are making AMAZING music right now wtf is this dude talking about ?????” she tweeted. Iggy Azalea also chimed in, suggesting women boycott next year’s event. Iggy Azalea Reveals The Cover Of Quavo-Assisted Track “Savior

Let the comeback begin! Iggy Azalea revealed the cover and release date (February 2) of new single “Savior” last night. It finds the Australian rapper posing on top of an old television with a neon-green halo in the background. She wears a flowing gown with latex gloves and long hair extensions — quite a change from the pastel-colored tomboy ensembles from The New Classic era. It’s nice to see that the Quavo-assisted track is getting a proper rollout. In addition to fancy artwork, “Savior” will debut during a Super Bowl commercial for Monster Products.

“[The song] was created at a time when I felt so stagnant & alone, but I just couldn’t pick up the phone and admit to even my closest friends how hopeless I felt,” Iggy tweeted recently. “So I hope I can connect with anyone else that’s been/going thru it via this song.” She then urged fans to connect with each other via her Twitter account. With any luck, “Savior” will return Iggy to pop and rhythmic radio after “Team” and “Switch” were effectively shut out. If not, Surviving The Summer could disappear into the same void as Digital Distortion. See the cover below.

Iggy Azalea Teams Up With Quavo For New Single “Savior”

Iggy Azalea promised to launch her sophomore LP at the top of the year, but I wasn’t expecting it to arrive with such a splash. The rapper will debut a (kind of) new single called “Savior” in a Super Bowl commercial for Monster Products. She announced the move at a press conference, revealing that track features Quavo and has an expected release date of February 1. Of course, fans will recognize that song title. A collaboration with Verse Simmonds, the original version leaked in full last year.

However, I’m not surprised she held onto this bop. It was definitely the catchiest non-pop song from Digital Distortion and taps into the sunny, dancehall sound, which is still hot at radio and on Spotify. Moreover, it shows her vulnerable side — proving there’s more to her that sexy bops and fuck-you anthems. It will be interesting to see if Quavo brings a new perspective to “Savior” or simply rerecords the original track. Happily, we don’t have too long to wait. See Iggy’s announcement below.

Iggy Azalea & Zedd’s “Boom Boom” Finally Arrives Via ‘Pitch Perfect 3’

After more twists and turns than a telenovela, Iggy Azalea and Zedd’s “Boom Boom” finally hits iTunes today (December 15) via Pitch Perfect 3. The banger was originally slated for the Baywatch soundtrack, but was mysteriously pulled at the last minute. It subsequently leaked online and was overhauled for Digital Distortion — only the rapper’s album was scrapped and, months later, the song somehow ended up on Just Dance 2018. So, was it worth the (very long) wait?

I’m going to answer in the affirmative. Iggy’s verses are complete nonsense (“baby, come and hear the pitta-patta, kiss my — hey! — back-scratcher”), but the production is wild and the chorus packs a punch. “I got that boom boom, baby bring the bass,” the “Team” hitmaker shouts over an avalanche of beats courtesy of D.R.U.G.S. & Zedd. “I got that boom boom, all up in your face.” It’s very catchy and destined to find a lot of love at gyms, sporting events and pep rallies. Anitta’s Army Is Mad At Iggy Azalea & Maluma For A Non-Existent Remix

Just when you thought Stan Twitter couldn’t get any stranger, fans of Brazilian superstar Anitta are dragging Iggy Azalea and Maluma for having lunch together. Well, there’s a little more to it than that. It seems Anitta’s Army thought the Colombian heartthrob was going to replace their queen on a new “Switch” remix. Needless to say, they were pissed at the disrespect and spammed the duo’s Instagram accounts with snake emojis and threw around insults like “fake,” “flop” and “Cobra.” Only the remix doesn’t exist.

“There is no Switch [remix], I am introducing Maluma on stage for his performance,” Iggy explained on Twitter. “He’s a close friend and I support him in whatever he does.” Trolls then backtracked but the rapper still clocked them. “I’m worn a little thin with ‘fans’ attacking me all the time then apologizing, I’ve done nothing wrong & I’ll be friends with whom I wish.” What’s the big deal? Apparently, there’s bad blood between Anitta and Maluma — or at least between their supporters. See Iggy’s annoyed tweets below.

Watch Iggy Azalea Perform ‘Switch’ Live on ‘The Late Late Show’

Iggy Azalea took the stage on James Corden’s The Late Late Show last night (June 13) for a smoky, twerk-filled live rendition of «Switch,» her new single featuring Brazilian vocal sensation Anitta. The performance (sans Anitta) comes ahead of the Aussie artist’s sophomore effort, Digital Distortion, which is now set to drop June 30 after a string of setbacks and delays.

During the Late Show episode, the «Fancy» artist also joined Jane Krakowski, Kate Mara and Lily James for a messy game of «Flinch,» where contestants do their best to keep martinis from spilling while Corden tries to make them, well, flinch.

Iggy Azalea Strikes A Pose In Stylish New Pics

When it rains, it pours! After virtually disappearing for most of 2017, Iggy Azalea has been everywhere this week with a TV performance, new track previews and a fashion shoot. The pics, which were taken by Austin Hargrave, seem to originate from the Digital Distortion cover shoot. She has the same ironed-straight hair and one of the snaps has been pixelated. Wherever they come from, the rapper looks great — striking a pose in flared, black pants and a sexy, peach-colored swimsuit.

After two years of delays and a long list of setbacks, Iggy’s sophomore LP will finally arrive on June 30. The Australian rapper has already released three singles from Digital Distortion — 2016 bop “Team,” the extremely underrated “Mo Bounce” and Anitta-assisted banger “Switch.” That song hasn’t dented the charts yet but it’s steadily climbing on pop radio (it’s currently just around the top 50) and starting to gain traction on Spotify. Click through Iggy’s new shoot up top and watch her ride a horse below. If that’s your thing.
