Rita Ora is gearing up to ride her latest anthem to the top of the charts. The Brit teamed up with Cardi BCharli XCX and Bebe Rexha to unveil their collaborative single “Girls,” and it is a distinctly fun and flirty bop. Released today (May 11), it fulfills a promise she first made in November of 2017. After months of anticipation, the “Anywhere” siren finally announced the release date last week. And she makes up for lost time with a treat that is all but guaranteed to be a contender for the title of Song Of The Summer. Unsurprisingly, the quartet have a breezy serving of pop perfection on their hands.

“Her name is Lara, we learned a lotta. How to do it, like we do it, like we wanna. We just know, we just know. I ain’t one sided. I’m open-minded,” Rita coos over a sugary production. Bebe and Charli trade off lines on the second verse, and they all find an easy chemistry on the instantly addictive chorus. “Sometimes I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls,” the group sings in harmony. Possessing some of the most distinctive voices in pop, it is refreshing to hear them all blending so well. Cardi’s verse is equally fun and manages to reference both Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name.”

Boasting one of the year’s most joyful productions and the collective might of four pop powerhouses, “Girls” is all but guaranteed to enjoy a massive run on the charts. Everything Cardi touches turns to gold, and Bebe is soaring high after the meteoric success of “Meant To Be.”Given Rita and Charli’s popularity at home, they are all but guaranteed a future #1 in the UK. Keep an eye peeled for a video, which is sure to drop soon. Based on a teaser Rita posted on Twitter, it looks like a vibrant affair. Give the bop a spin below!

It’s actually happening! Rita Ora casually announced that she was releasing a new single called “Girls” way back in November, 2017. The song was supposed to drop in January and feature fellow pop queens Charli XCX and Bebe Rexha. The latter even hinted at a fourth collaborator when she retweeted the news with the comment: “And maybe someone else?” It only took six months, but we finally know that Cardi B is the fourth member of the Awesome Foursome. “Girls” also has an official release date.

“I’m so happy to finally announce my new single ‘GIRLS’ feat some amazing powerful women who have inspired me so much!” Rita announced on her social media accounts. “Out 11th May.” She also shared the cover art, which finds their names spelled out on a scrabble board. This has the potential to be a long-overdue US hit for Rita and Charli. Cardi has the midas touch right now and Bebe is hotter than ever thanks to the success “Meant To Be.” On the other hand, this is all but guaranteed to be a UK #1 hit thanks to Rita and Charli’s popularity at home.

Pink, Katy Perry, Charli XCX & More Respond to Neil Portnow’s “Step Up” Comment

0

Just when you thought the Grammys couldn’t be any more out of touch, Recording Academy president Neil Portnow responded to male artists sweeping all major categories by suggesting, among other things, that women need to “step up.” I’m not joking. “It has to begin with… women who have the creativity in their hearts and souls, who want to be musicians, who want to be engineers, producers, and want to be part of the industry on the executive level… [They need] to step up because I think they would be welcome,” he told Variety.

The backlash was swift and brutal with Pink leading the way. “Women in music don’t need to ‘step up’ — women have been stepping since the beginning of time,” she wrote in a handwritten letter. “Stepping up, and also steppin aside. Women OWNED music this year. They’ve been KILLING IT. And every year before this. When we celebrate and honor the talent and [accomplishments] of women, and how much women STEP UP every year, against all odds, we show the next generation of women and girls and boys and men what it means to be equal, and what it looks like to be fair.”

“Another powerful woman, leading by example,” Katy Perry responded to Pink’s message. “We ALL have a responsibility to call out the absurd lack of equality everywhere we see it. I’m proud of ALL the women making incredible art in the face of continual resistance.” Charli XCX was less diplomatic. “Ugh bout 2 step up on 2 ur face.. women are making AMAZING music right now wtf is this dude talking about ?????” she tweeted. Iggy Azalea also chimed in, suggesting women boycott next year’s event. Charli XCX, Brooke Candy, CupcakKe & Pabllo Vittar Come Together For “I Got It”

0

Charli XCX’s Pop 2 mixtape continues to take shape with “I Got It,” a collaboration with Brooke CandyCupcakKe and Pabllo Vittar. After delivering shimmery electro-pop perfection with “Out Of My Head”and PC Music madness with “Unlock It,” the Brit veers into hip-hop territory on her latest. “Big tits, double Ds,” the “Opulence” rapper begins the song over A. G. Cook and Umru’s rattling beats. “No silicone and no saline, jealous of me.” That takes us to the catchy yet infuriating chorus and Charli’s own spoken verse.

Next up is the pop star’s reunion with CupcakKe. The “Cumshot” legend goes hard, declaring: “Got a couple of bitches that want my attention, they acting real vicious but I’m not offended.” She’s followed by drag superstar Pabllo, who made a huge impression as the featured artist on Major Lazer’s all-star banger “Sua Cara.” At this rate, Pop 2 (due December 15) is not only going to be a killer listen, but also a showcase of underrated and/or upcoming talent. Listen to Charli’s latest below.

Charli XCX Teases A New Mixtape Featuring Carly Rae Jepsen & Tove Lo

It looks like Charli XCX is about to save pop with another mixtape. The Brit teased the project on Twitter last night (December 3) and shared a list of potential collaborators including Carly Rae JepsenTove LoAlmaKim PetrasCupcakKeBrooke CandyPabllo Vittar and Caroline Polachek. That lineup sounds too good to be true, but it didn’t take an update account long to find the purported tracklist. If it’s valid, we’re about to get a Charli x CRJ duet called “Backseat” — among other pop treasures.

Of course, the “Vroom Vroom” hitmaker dropped a mixtape earlier this year called Number 1 Angel. It was a response to her record label continuously pushing back her third album and contained collaborations with MØ, StarrahRAYE and Uffie as well as CupcakKe’s introduction to the (kind of) mainstream, “Lipgloss.” Hopefully, Charli will drop the project before Christmas and snatch a place on some best of 2017 countdowns. See her tweet and the tracklist below.

David Guetta & Afrojack Recruit Charli XCX & French Montana For “Dirty Sexy Money”

0

David Guetta and Afrojack recruited Charli XCX and French Montana for a massive club anthem on their latest joint release, “Dirty Sexy Money.” Out today (November 2), the EDM hitmakers remain true to the winning formula they developed after striking gold on 2015’s “Hey Mama.” Opening with an almost saccharine sweet production, the song rapidly builds to a frenzy following a sudden beat drop.

The “Boys” siren takes the lead over their production, and she lays a seductive trap for a potential lover before going in for the kill. “If you wanna put-put-put-put it on me, you’re not gonna get-get-get-get-get it for free. Come and spend that dirty sexy money on me,” Charli commands over a stuttering beat. French comes in to deliver a besotted verse toward the back end, but his efforts pale in comparison to the Brit’s.

The quartet could have a massive hit on their hands with the buoyant bop. Charli’s delivery is fierce and undeniable, and the production will stand out as most pop is starting to slow down the beats per minute moving into the winter. Give the track a spin below!

Charli XCX Breaks The Rules With Star-Studded “Boys” Video

0

Charli XCX is back with a perky bop called “Boys,” which finds the Brit singing about her obsession with the men folk over minimal electronic beats. It’s definitely a step closer to mainstream pop after wilding out on her Number 1 Angel mixtape with an instantly hummable chorus and relatable (to at least half of the population) lyrics. She teams up with Sarah McColgan to direct the soon-to-go-viral visual, which challenges gender and music video norms by playfully objectifying a star-studded cast of dudes.

The line-up is seriously impressive. It begins with Joe Jonas hamming it up in a dressing gown, before moving on to famous faces like Brendon UrieCharlie PuthDRAMFlumeG-EazyJack AntonoffKaytranadaKhalidMark RonsonMNEKPortugal. The ManSage The GeminiStormzyTHEYTy Dolla $ignVance JoyEzra Koenigwill.i.am and Wiz KhalifaDiplo, however, steals the show by using puppies as free weights. Oh, and he’s shirtless because those abs take a lot of effort and deserve to be seen.

“[This] is my favorite music video I’ve ever made,” Charli says of the uplifting visual. “I just wanna say a big thanks to all the boys involved, for totally embracing and understanding my vision and being excited by the concept. p.s. no boys were harmed in the making of this video.” “Boys” was co-written with LAUV and Emily Warren, and is the next single from the Brit’s third LP (due later this year). Watch up top.

Camila Cabello Confirms Song Titles With Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran And Pharrell

0

Epic Records brought out the big guns for Camila Cabello’s debut solo single. “Crying In The Club” was co-written by Sia, Cashmere Cat and Benny Blanco, and includes a sample of Christina Aguilera’s legendary “Genie In A Bottle.” It looks like no expense has been spared on the album either. In a new interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the former Fifth Harmony diva walked listeners through the multitude of high-profile collaborators on dramatically-titled debut LP, The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving..

Now for the details. The 20-year-old revealed that she has recorded a song with Ed Sheeran called “The Boy,” which she likens to James Brown (?) and describes as “funky.” There’s a track with Pharrell called “Havana” (obviously, a nod to her Cuban heritage) and a banger with Charli XCX called “Scar Tissue.” Oh, and Camila also recorded two songs with Ryan Tedder and one with Major Lazer. Watch the full interview below for the all the tea.
