Superstars collided on social media yesterday (Aug. 20) with both Calvin Harris and The Weeknd teasing a forthcoming collaboration.

On Instagram, The Weeknd posted a presumably pre-quarantine image of him and the Scottish producer (Harris is clutching three full red Solo cups and wearing a Coachella wristband in the shot), with the cryptic caption, «Don’t get too confused…»

Over on Harris’ Instagram Story, footage of vintage mixing equipment was soundtracked by a funky and smooth AF R&B jam that would certainly lend itself to The Weeknd’s falsetto.

There’s no word yet whether this collab will be released by The Weeknd or by Harris, who this year has exclusively dropped music under his acid house influenced alias, Love Regenerator.

The news follows The Weeknd’s Aug. 7 performance on TikTok, during which he performed his current hits “Blinding Lights» and «Pray For Me» and teased 30 seconds of a new song.

Check out the teasers below.

Dua Lipa Teases Her & Calvin Harris’ “One Kiss” Video

0

Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris have a huge hit on their hands with One Kiss.” The electro-house anthem, which is the first taste of the DJ’s new project, has already topped the charts in the UK and gone top 10 in markets as diverse as Australia, Germany and Sweden. The banger is steadily climbing the Billboard Hot 100 (it has peaked at number 62 thus far) and is destined to soar a lot higher as radio airplay picks up and views from the sizzling video factor into the charting equation.

The Brit shared a still from the video today (April 24) and it finds her wearing a crystal-studded ensemble. Dua reclines on a surface covered with ice cube-shaped glass (I guess they will look like diamonds in the video) and is generally a vision of loveliness. She is on fire at the moment. After conquering the charts worldwide with girl-power anthem “New Rules,” the 22-year-old backed it up with another smash hit in the form of “IDGAF.” See the first preview of her next viral video below.

Calvin Harris & PARTYNEXTDOOR Drop Trippy “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready” Video

0

Calvin Harris reunites with PARTYNEXTDOOR on his infectious single, “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready.” The pair previously worked together alongside ScHoolboy Q and DRAM on “Cash Out,” an album track on last year’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1.Released today (February 8), their latest is a buoyant club cut with massive potential. True to his promises of musical evolution, it boasts a new sonic direction and provides a much-needed update on trop-pop’s overplayed productions.

Fusing house beats with tropical-sounding synths, the pair have created a sizzling number that vibrates with energy. On it, PARTYNEXTDOOR shares his hesitancy before getting involved in a relationship. “I had dreams of fuckin’ the baddest bitch. Last night I awoke up and I fucked the baddest bitch. I thought I would be ready when I seen her when I was in the disco,” he boasts. However, there is trouble in paradise as he admits to not being ready for a serious relationship. “Don’t want mi children and ting’. Mi nuh ready fi all dem tings,” he announces on the earworm-worthy chorus.

The accompanying video is a neon-drenched affair that makes use of special effects to create a high-energy spectacle. After taking a helicopter ride into a city, the crooner and a crew of dancers deliver choreography in front of a green screen. Calvin makes an appearance toward the middle of the visual, but PARTYNEXTDOOR undeniably steals the show. With the right push, this could become a big hit for the pair. Despite receiving critical acclaim, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 did not find much love on the charts. Hopefully, his latest will make up for lost time. Give the track a spin and check out its bold video up top!

He’s Back! Calvin Harris Is Releasing New Music This Week

0

It looks like Calvin Harris is releasing new music this week, on Thursday (February 8) to be exact. The Scottish hitmaker shared video of a mysterious projection being shown in Times Square NYC, which shows a rotating skull as well as the release date. Just don’t expect the song to sound anything like Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. “In 2018 movin on from Funk Wav sound thank u for joining me on my musical journey haha,” he tweeted earlier this year. If the preview is any indication, expect something edgier than usual.

Of course, Calvin moved away from his trademark electro-house sound on his 2017 LP. Instead, he fused together dance, soul and hip-hop to forge a whole new club sub-genre. And while it was critically acclaimed (the Scot was nominated for Producer of the Year at the Grammys), it didn’t perform as well on the charts as previous offerings. However, “Slide” turned out to be a sleeper hit on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Feels” was a big song internationally. Check out the 34-year-old’s updates below.

Calvin Harris, Kehlani & Lil Yachty’s Striking “Faking It” Video

0

“Faking It” is the fifth single from Calvin Harris’ Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 by my count. Of those, only “Slide”and “Feels” (a massive hit everywhere except the US) have found a wide audience. That could change with his moody collaboration with Kehlani and Lil Yachty. The track brings out the best in all of them with the R&B diva serving relatable lyrics over one of the Scot’s most finely-tuned productions. “And I say I’m okay, but I guess I’m a liar,” she sings. “You say you’re okay, but I saw that you liked it.”

“Why you, why you, why you checking if you’re over it? Why you, why you say ‘let go’ if you’re still holding it? Just a little bit better at faking it than me, baby.” The visual arrived last night (October 23) and it tapes into the song’s gloomy, late-night vibe. Calvin steps aside to let Kehlani and Yachty shine and they do their thing in elaborate set-ups that include falling snow and ice sculptures. He does, however, appear towards the end to play a little piano. Watch the striking video up top.

Fans Think Taylor Swift’s “Gorgeous” Is About Wanting To Cheat On Calvin Harris

0

It wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift release without a messy backstory. The 27-year-old rolled out a single called “Gorgeous” last night (October 19), which is a bubbly pop song about wanting to cheat while you’re in a relationship. And it didn’t take fans long to decipher the lyrics and conclude that Taylor is singing about her break-up with Calvin Harris. “I got a boyfriend, he’s older than us,” she chirps in an early verse. “He’s in the club doing I don’t know.” (Possibly being the world’s highest-paid DJ?)

“You’re so gorgeous, I can’t say anything to your face,” the hitmaker sings on the chorus. “‘Cause look at your face and I’m so furious at you for making me feel this way.” I really don’t care about Taylor’s love life or her multiple feuds, but I’m starting to fear for her Reputation. While better than “Look What You Made Me Do” and “… Ready For It,” this is the diva’s third lackluster single in a row. Where is the innate pop sensibility of Red and the undeniable hooks of 1989? Certainly not on display in the track below.

Calvin Harris, Katy Perry, Pharrell & Big Sean’s Trippy “Feels” Video

0

After grabbing our attention with a series of Instagram posts, Calvin Harris rolls out his “Feels” visual tonight (June 26). It’s the first track from his Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 LP (due June 30) to get the video treatment, which explains the elaborate set-up. The clip, which was directed by Emil Nava, begins with Pharrell Williams chilling in a row boat, while the Scottish DJ plays bass in the background. Katy Perry then takes us back to the Prism era with a long, flowing wig and floral dress. (Think of it as “Roar” on acid).

Last but not least is Big Sean, who delivers his verse from the comfort of a folding chair. The whole video is treated with a psychedelic filter and artificial color scheme, which adds to the disorienting effect. I guess this means “Feels” is going to be pushed as a proper single. While the melodic groove doesn’t scream hit in the way “This Is What You Came For” did, for example, it’s definitely a grower and has got off to a good start on Spotify racking up 20 million streams in two weeks.

Calvin Harris posted this video, revealing that his new album, titled Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, will include collabs with: Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Kehlani, Future, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Big Sean, John Legend, Khalid, Migos, Schooboy Q, Ariana Grande, Yung Thug, D.R.A.M., Nicki Minaj, Lil Yachty, Jessie Reyez, Partynextdoor, and Snoop Dogg.

Yes, we said Katy Perry — the nemesis of Calvin’s ex, Taylor Swift who wrote “Bad Blood” aboutKaty. You may remember in July 2016 after Calvin and Taylor’s break up, he went on a Twitter rant slamming his ex, and seemingly taking Katy’s side in their long-winded feud.

“I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it,” Calvin tweeted at the time. Well it looks like he’s officially taken Katy’s side. As we told you following their Twitter fall out, Katy was thinking about working on some sort of response to Taylor, and was so happy to have Calvin’s support.

Set to be released on June 30, the video clip with a sunset background features vocals from DJ Khalid and Future.
