Cardi B Reunites With Bruno Mars On New Single “Please Me”

0

It has been a wild week for Cardi B. The Rap Empress kicked things off on an incredible high after making history at the Grammys. During the show, she delivered a suitably eye-popping rendition of current single “Money” and served a look on the red carpet. However, her night got even better when she picked up the Grammy for Best Rap Album. The accomplishment makes her the first female rapper to win the category as a solo artist. However, shortly after delivering her (iconic) acceptance speech, people began complaining that she didn’t deserve the honor. After defending herself on Instagram, the 26-year-old disabled her account for a while to escape the hate.

However, she didn’t let the naysayers keep her down for long. Instead, she ended her “retirement” early to announce a new collaboration with fellow Grammy winner Bruno Mars. The duo linked up on last year’s retro “Finesse (Remix),” which hit the number 3 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. And it seems safe to assume that they have another massive hit on their hands with their latest – “Please Me.” Boasting production from Bruno and The Stereotypes, it’s a sensual bop. The “That’s What I Like” crooner shows off his velvety vocals on the seductive chorus. “Please me, baby. Turn around and just tease me, baby,” he pleads. Meanwhile, Cardi’s verses are as self-assured and smooth as ever.

Hopefully a video follows very soon. After the vibrant, mega-viral release that accompanied “Finesse (Remix),” I’m dying to see what they have in store this time around. In the meantime, press play on “Please Me” below!

Jennifer Lopez Sends Out a Fly Girl Response to Bruno Mars & Cardi B’s ‘Finesse’ Remix Video

Bruno Mars and Cardi B’s «Finesse» remix video pays homage to the ’90s and, more specifically, the sketch comedy series of In Living Color, which helped pave the way for a slew of entertainers of color that would later become Hollywood staples.

Part of that vintage television series — a highly celebrated Wayans Brothers production — was the Fly Girls crew, a bevy of bodacious women who would perform dance routines during special intermissions.

Jennifer Lopez was an original Fly Girl who made waves as one of the few Latina women to appear on the stage, and on Thursday (Jan. 4), she responded to Bruno and Cardi’s homeage.

Bruno Mars & Cardi B Take It Back To The ’90s In Their “Finesse” Remix Video

It looks like Cardi B is about to have her 4th top 10 hit (5th if “Bartier Cardi” gains a little momentum). The breakout rapper jumps on the remix of Bruno Mars’“Finesse,” lending a catchy intro to the ’90s-flavored bop. “It’s my big Bronx boogie, got all them girls shook,” she brags in the opening verse. “My big, fat ass got all them boys hooked.” From there, the 25-year-old recounts her Cinderella story. “I went from dollar bills, now we poppin’ rubber bands.”

As fun as the remix is, I still prefer the original version. Co-written and co-produced by The Stereotypes, “Finesse” was always screaming out to be a single and it didn’t need a feature to be massive. That being said, Cardi does a good job of calibrating her brash New York vibe to Bruno’s chilled out, throwback sound. The (somewhat) odd couple also dropped the video tonight (January 3) and it plays like a lost episode of In Living Color. Bruno serves retro-choreography, while his collaborator bops along in full ’90s get-up. Watch up top.

Bruno Mars Seduces Zendaya In His “Versace On The Floor” Video

0

Bruno Mars finally rolled out the video for “Versace On The Floor” yesterday (August 13) and it was worth the wait. The visual finds our hero entering his apartment clad, naturally, in Versace. He bumps into his glamorous neighbor in the hallway — played by Zendaya — and manages to seduce her without saying a word. The 31-year-old simply sits at his piano and belts out the song, while his (future) love interest falls in love through the wall and gets her freak on alone. Don’t worry, there’s a happy ending for both of them.

The video has every chance of going viral, which should help “Versace On The Floor” become the third top 10 single from Bruno’s 24K Magic LP. The title track and “That’s What I Like” have both been certified quadruple platinum (he’s the only artist to land two in 2017), so expectations are high for this. And it’s off to a good start with the slinky ballad already racking up more than 150 million streams on Spotify. It’s also benefiting from a David Guetta remix. Watch the belated video up top.

Bruno Mars “Versace On The Floor” Gets A David Guetta Remix

Bruno Mars is hoping to land his third top 10 single in a row with “Versace On The Floor.” The sexy ballad is slowly making its mark on radio and has already racked up more than 130 million streams on Spotify. It will get another burst of momentum from a new remix, which David Guetta debuted in Ibiza last night (June 26). “I’m super proud that I had the opportunity to work with Bruno Mars on ‘Versace on the Floor,’” he says of the slinky overhaul. “It is more than a remix; it is a collaboration and combination of different worlds together.”

“My goal was to make it more dance and DJ friendly, but still respect the music that he came with, and keep the song and his voice in tact because it’s so beautiful. I hoped to create something that would not just be for one community, just like Bruno makes quality music that speaks to a wide audience.” It’s fair to say that the French producer achieved that. He shows admirable restraint on the remix, remaining faithful to the original’s retro charm while tinkering with the sound here and there to make it more current. Listen below.
