Beyoncé’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’ Video Is Now Available Outside of ‘Black Is King’: Watch

0

The visual features appearances from Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland and Blue Ivy Carter.

Ring the alarm! Just weeks after unveiling Black Is King, Beyoncé has gifted the wider world with the stunning video for «Brown Skin Girl.»

On Aug. 24, the superstar uploaded the celebratory clip as a standalone visual on YouTube. (Previously, the video for the fan favorite track had only been available to Disney+ subscribers as part of Beyoncé’s most recent musical film, which dropped exclusively on the streaming service July 31.)

In the video, Beyoncé enlists (and name drops) the likes of Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o and former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland to help laud and pass down the ideals of Black identity, heritage and beauty to future generations of brown skinned girls.

«Oh, have you looked in the mirror lately?/ Wish you could trade eyes with me ‘cause/ There’s complexities in complexion/ But your skin, it glow like diamonds/ Pigment like the earth, you be giving birth/ To everything alive, baby, know your worth,» the singer preaches on the track alongside guest features from Saint Jhn, Wizkid and her eldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who closes out the song and video by echoing her mom’s empowering lyrics.

Prior to serving as a centerpiece to Black Is King, «Brown Skin Girl» first appeared on Beyoncé’s 2019 LP The Lion King: The Gift, which was itself a companion soundtrack to Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King. Queen Bey provided the voice of Nala in the reimagining of the 1995 classic alongside Donald Glover (Simba), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), James Earl Jones (Mufasa) and more.

The Lion King: The Gift.

Beyoncé did it again! The game-changing diva’s third surprise album in row dropped this afternoon (June 16) and it’s her long-rumored joint album with husband Jay-ZEverything Is Love completes the saga of love and infidelity that began with Bey’s mega-selling Lemonade and then continued with Hov’s 4:44. While those projects dealt with betrayal, hurt and ultimately forgiveness, there’s a sense of renewal and celebration about this relatively-short (there’s only nine tracks) opus.

Take the lead single, “Apeshit.” This is a flat-out rap banger in the mold of “Top Off” and “Shining.” It celebrates the couple’s manifold achievements and status as music royalty. And what better way to portray that then have Beyoncé and Jay posing in front of the Mona Lisa — the most iconic artwork in the world. Yes, The Carters somehow managed to rent out The Louvre! Check out the tracklist of Everything Is Love below and stream the album exclusively via TIDAL here. You can also watch the “Apeshit” visual below and click through screengrabs up top.

‘Dreamgirls’ Beyonce & Jennifer Hudson Reunite at Coachella

0

Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson were all smiles posing together for a photo at Coachella — or «Beychella» — this weekend.

In her caption for a snapshot of the moment on Instagram, Hudson gushed to her former Dreamgirls co-star, «It’s not what u do but how u do it ! And @Beyonce you have out done yourself ! Only u know how to top this ! I wouldn’t have missed this for the world ! #beychella»

«Here to see my dream girl,» Hudson said in a video clip from her experience at weekend two of the California music festival, which she also posted on Instagram. The two starred as the Supremes-inspired girl group the Dreams, alongside Anika Noni Rose, in the 2006 film.

The singer also shared a Coachella stage shot of the reunited Destiny’s Child, noting «these women blow me away,» and a video with fireworks going off. Beyoncé «done set the place on fire,» she said.

They’re Coming! Beyonce And Jay-Z Announce Their ‘On The Run II’ Stadium Tour

0

Music’s power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z are gearing up to hit the road on their second joint international tour. After weeks of rumors building about the possibility, the duo announced their On The Run IIstadium tour with a promotional trailer on TIDAL this morning (March 12). This marks their second time co-headlining a tour together after embarking on the On The Run Tour in 2014. Their latest outing will kick off with a string of shows across Europe this summer. They will touch down for the inaugural show in Cardiff on June 6 and perform 15 shows before returning to North America.

The North American leg of the tour kicks off with a set in Cleveland on July 25 and will come to a close with one final set in Vancouver on October 2. There is no news on who will be opening for the pair on tour; however, it seems safe to assume that they’ll travel with a fierce up-and-comer. It also seems likely that we will hear more new music from one or both of them soon. A new LP from Bey is one of the most highly anticipated albums for 2018, and this just made the possibility even more likely.

Tickets for the tour will be available for pre-order in most markets starting on March 19. Check out the tour dates and some additional promotional imagery below!

DJ Khaled Calls On Jay Z, Beyonce & Future For “Top Off”

0

DJ Khaled set the internet alight yesterday (March 1) when he teased a new single called “Top Off.” With all due respect, the main cause of the excitement was a featured artist listed only as B. The song arrived this morning and, as expected, Beyonce steals the show. The “Wild Thoughts” producer sets the flashy tone early — opening the bone-rattling banger with an intro from Jay ZFuture then steps in for the irritatingly catchy chorus, before Hov returns for a killer verse. He ends it by declaring, “Bey, put these fuckboys on notice.”

And she does. “I’m the only lady here, still the realest nigga in the room,” Beyonce spits. “I break the internet, top two and I ain’t number two.” The 36-year-old continues to tell it like it is, referencing different moments in her career. “My body, my ice, my cash, all real, I’m a triple threat,” Queen Bey brags. “Fuck it up and then leave, come back, fuck it up and leave again.” No lies detected. “Top Off” is the lead single from the followup to DJ Khaled’s hit-filled Grateful LP. Expect to hear a lot more of it over the next few months. Press play below.
