Marshmello Gets Friend-Zoned By Anne-Marie In Their Neon-Drenched “Friends” Video

0

Anne-Marie lays down the law in the newly released video for her Marshmello collaboration, “Friends.” The twosome teamed up on their anti-lover’s anthem earlier this month. “You can’t be reasoned with, I’m done being polite,” the Brit sings to a friend who cannot take a hint over a searing beat courtesy of the up-and-coming producer. Rolled out today (February 16), the Hannah Lux Davis-directed visual brings the song’s defiant lyrics to life.

In it, Anne-Marie and her girl friends host a massive house party. The night is off to a wild start under some neon lights when Marshmello shows up and gets a little flirty. As the celebration comes to a close, she and her girls try to send him home to little effect. Throughout the rest of the visual they avoid some of his slick attempts to woo his lady-love. Vibrant and fun, the video is a cute release that will only give the track a push up the charts.

“Friends” could well be Marshmello’s third big hit in a row. “Silence,” his moody collaboration with Khalid, went top 10 everywhere except the US — a feat the Selena Gomez-voiced “Wolves” duplicated. His latest is starting to take off on the iTunes charts and has already racked up more than 12 million streams on Spotify in the last two weeks. With any luck, he and his collaborator will ride this one right to the top of the charts. Give the video a view up top!

Marshmello & Anne-Marie’s “Friends” Is An Anti-Valentine’s Day Anthem

0

There’s a whole sub-genre of pop songs about friends who become lovers, but this isn’t one of them. Marshmello & Anne-Marie’s “Friends” is a musical reminder to stop making a fool of yourself. “You’re not my lover, more like a brother,” the Brit laments. “I know you since we were like ten.” That might sound a little harsh, but it turns out the “Alarm” diva has cause to be fed up. “You can’t be reasoned with, I’m done being polite,” she fumes. “I’ve told you 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 thousand times.”

“Haven’t I made it obvious? Haven’t I made it clear?” Anne-Marie reiterates on the fiery chorus. “Want me to spell it out for you? F-R-I-E-N-D-S.” Play this for someone you don’t love on Valentine’s Day! “Friends” could well be Marshmello’s third big hit in a row. “Silence,” his moody collaboration with Khalid, went top 10 everywhere except the US — a feat the Selena Gomez-voiced “Wolves” duplicated. Listen to the week’s least romantic, but long-overdue bop below from midnight ET tonight.

Anne-Marie Winds Up 2017 With Emotional Banger “Then”

0

Anne-Marie saved the best for last. The Brit closes out a busy 2017 by dropping her best song of the year. “Then” is a fiery breakup anthem that oozes emotion without skimping on her trademark dance beats. “True ride or die, that’s what you had,” the 26-year-old begins the catchy chorus. “I loved you, I loved you, I loved you.” Things continue to get very real. “And when you think of my body on yours, don’t forget once I would have died for you,” she continues. “But that was then.”

“Then” is the latest cut from Anne-Marie’s long-overdue debut LP. It follows worldwide hit “Alarm,” summery bop “Ciao Adios” and the slept-on “Heavy.” (She also featured on Nick Jonas’ clubby “Remember I Told You” along with Mike Posner). I guess her label is just trying to find the song, before dropping the album and they might just have it with this. You can stream the rising star’s latest bop below from midnight (ET) tonight.
