Edit: This post has been updated with new information about Meghan’s singles.
Meghan Trainor is releasing two new singles tomorrow (May 10), “Let You Be Right” and “Can’t Dance.” And they both seem to be club-oriented. A preview of the former is literally accompanied by a video of spinning disco ball, while she wears ’90s-inspired nightclub attire on the cover of the latter. Dropping dual singles is a wise move in the age of streaming (fans can choose which song they prefer and the label can run with it), so this should give us a good idea of what to expect from the “All About That Bass” diva’s long-awaited third LP.
Meghan will be hoping that “Let You Be Right” and “Can’t Dance” find more love than “No Excuses,” which peaked at a disappointing number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track seems to be pleasing the faithful (it’s still top 20 on iTunes), but streaming numbers were low and it didn’t find a lot of love at radio. A couple of retro floorfillers could be just what she needs to snatch another massive hit. After all, it’s a strategy that worked for Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake.
