Featuring One Direction, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Tambor and many more.
Since James Corden took over CBS’ The Late, Late Show in 2015, the British comedian has brought infinite hilarious parodies, sketches and musical bits to the late night program.
Corden’s pioneered «Carpool Karaoke» may be the major hit segment of the 12:35 a.m. time slot show, but he’s also managed to get some of the biggest stars in Hollywood to participate many other just as entertaining skits.
Below, Billboard pulled together some of Corden’s best non-«Carpool Karaoke» skits.
«The Boyega is Mine» – Brandy/Monica parody
On Wednesday, emerging actor John Boyega became the center of a pun for Corden’s latest musical parody, a rip on the 1998 video for Brandy and Monica’s hit «The Boy is Mine.» Dressed in seductive pajamas, Corden is joined by Transparentstar Jeffrey Tambor vying for the affection of the young Star Wars leading man.
«A Visual Monologue» – Beyonce Lemonade parody
Beyoncé’s groundbreaking Lemonade inspired millions of fans, including Corden who made his own clip inspired by the visual album. Rather than kicking off his late night show with his typical monologue, he made “A Visual Monologue” featuring jabs at Donald Trump like his opening sequence normally would while mirroring a number of Queen Bey’s videos fit with a knock off of her signature yellow gown and fur coat.
James Corden races Usain Bolt
“Self-proclaimed fastest man in the world” Corden, his team at CBS and Owen Wilson once faced off against 9-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt in a riveting track race. Though you can expect who came out on top, the event was still a spectacle of “two titans of fitness going head to head.”
«Crosswalk the Musical: Beauty and the Beast«
Corden often performs stripped down, short versions of major musicals outside of CBS studios in his «Crosswalk the Musical» sketch. In his performance of Beauty and the Beast, Corden whipped the cast including film stars Josh Gad, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans into shape before they could make their debut in the middle of the L.A. streets. As Belle, Corden gives a performance almost as great as Emma Watson in the feature film.
«Spill Your Guys or Fill Your Guts» with Niall Horan, Isla Fisher and Ewan McGregor
One of Corden’s more repulsive reoccurring sketches is his “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” in which his celebrity guests are forced to answer tough questions or eat disgusting delicacies like cow tongue or scorpions. In this particularly giddy, laughable rendition, Niall Horan dodges who his least favorite member of One Direction is and asks actor Ewan McGregor if he’s ever s— his pants. Answer: He said he did in the ’90s to get out of eating bird saliva.
Harry Styles and James Corden can’t stop singing
Harry Styles stopped by the Late, Late Show for a full week in summer 2017, making for a week of hilarious antics and musical bits. In one skit, the two played doctors, funeral parlor workers, and members of bomb squad who just can’t help but danceable sing classics like Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual,” Lou Bega’s jam “Mambo No. 5” and Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.” Throughout the clip, the two candidly have a hard time keeping it together.
«Drop the Mic» with Anne Hathaway
Did you know Anne Hathaway can rap? Well, the actress certainly can freestyle some mean lines and proved that in a rap battle with Corden. The two faced-off and took hits at each other’s acting careers (or lack thereof) and lyrical skills in a surprisingly heated “Drop the Mic” bit.
«D&J Briefs»
Fashion and soccer star David Beckham knows how to give the camera a sexy, smoldering look, which has earned him a number of major fashion campaigns throughout his career. Since Corden also embodies the model-esque aura of Beckham, the two teamed up to create a dramatic infomercial for D&J Briefs: Underwear for a man with a great body.
James Corden and Tom Hanks act out Hanks’ Filmography
Tom Hanks is one of America’s most treasured actors and has played some iconic roles throughout his lifetime-long career. Though it seems like a challenge, leave it to Corden and a green screen to act out every movie in Hank’s filmography in just a few minutes including all the Meg Ryan/Hanks rom-com classics, Forest Gump, Saving Private Ryan and many, many more.
One Direction plays dodge ball
Luckily, One Direction had Corden to thank so the group could finally live out their dreams as a dodge ball team. In a hilarious bit, the boy band gets a training session from Corden before they have to face off against professional team the Ball Busters. Of course, the game gets heated and their sportsmanship gets put to the test.
