Lindsay Lohan to Return to Acting by Starring in Netflix Christmas Romantic Comedy

Lindsay Lohan, who has largely foregone acting in recent years, will soon star in a yet-to-be-titled Netflix holiday rom-com. The streamer has made a robust business out of Christmas fare, and its original movies such as “Jingle Jangle,” “A Christmas Prince,” “The Christmas Chronicles” and “The Princess Switch” (inspired by Lohan’s “The Parent Trap”) have become instant (and repeatable) holiday classics.

In this new movie, Lohan will play a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress” (according to the logline), who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and “finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.” The rest of the cast has not yet been announced.

Lohan skyrocketed to fame as an 11-year-old actor, starring in a 1998 reboot of “The Parent Trap.” She followed that with a remake of “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls”; both roles cemented her status as an A-list star. After years of being hounded by paparazzi and the tabloids because of personal issues — ones that made her uninsurable for a time because of her chronic absences  — Lohan withdrew from acting by degrees, starting in the early 2010s. She eventually moved abroad, living in both Europe and Dubai.

She’s launched projects sporadically since, such as being the only good thing in Paul Schrader’s 2013 movie, “The Canyons”; appearing in a West End production of “Speed-the-Plow” in 2014; recurring on the British TV comedy “Sick Note” in 2018; starring in the MTV reality show “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club” in 2019; and later that year, appearing as a judge on the Australian version of “The Masked Singer.”

On CNN’s New Year’s Eve special in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic would press pause on the world, Lohan told hosts Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen that she wanted to “come back to America and start filming again,” and “taking back the life that I worked so hard for, and sharing it with my family and you guys.”

The Netflix movie starts production in November, so it won’t be for 2021 holiday viewing — audiences will receive this Yuletide present at a time to be announced later.

Janeen Damian (Hallmark Channel’s “A Christmas Waltz”) will direct, and it was written by Damian, Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett and Ron Oliver. Its producers are MPCA’s Brad Krevoy and Riviera Films’ Michael Damian. MPCA is behind such Netflix Christmas movies as the “A Christmas Prince” franchise, “Operation Christmas Drop” and the forthcoming “A Castle for Christmas.” (And fun fact: Michael Damian was a longtime star of the CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” and in 1989, had a No. 1 single: “Rock On,” from the “Dream a Little Dream” soundtrack.”)

Executive producers for Lohan’s Netflix movie are Amanda Phillips and Eric Jarboe.

Lohan is represented by APA.

Britney Spears is free

Nearly 14 years after losing power over her personal affairs and multimillion-dollar fortune, Britney Spears is finally getting her life back.

On Friday, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated Spears’ conservatorship effective immediately, freeing the 39-year-old pop star from the legal binds that allowed her dad and his team to make decisions about her work, who she could have contact with, and how to spend her money since 2008. Now, Spears can live on her own terms.

«The time has come after more than a decade for the conservatorship to be terminated in its entirety,» Spears’ attorney Mathew Rosengart told the court.

The ruling marks the end of what she has described as a «demoralizing» and traumatizing chapter of her life. And while the #FreeBritney fan movement and increased scrutiny from news outlets certainly hastened what we now know was a yearslong fight to regain control, it was Spears’ own voice that brought matters to a head four and a half months ago when she told the court — and the world — that her conservatorship was «abusive» and she wanted out.

«I just want my life back,» Spears said during a virtual court appearance on June 23. «It’s been 13 years. And it’s enough.»

Shortly after Friday’s hearing, Spears thanked her fans in a tweet with the hashtag #FreedBritney.

«Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy 🥺❤️ !!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!!,» she tweeted. «Best day ever … praise the Lord … can I get an Amen 🙏🏼☀️🙌🏼 ????» And in a follow up Instagram post, she posted a photo of her in a bright yellow dress with the caption: «I can’t freaking believe it !!!! Again … best day ever !!!!»

Billie Eilish’s Tour Kick-Off in Miami Involved Hugs With Jennifer Lopez, A Moving Anti-Body Shaming Video

The clip debuted during the singer’s show in Miami on Monday night (March 9).

Billie Eilish kicked off her North American Where Do We Go? tour on Monday night (March 9) at AmericanAirlines Arena with a very important message about body shaming. Fan-shot clips of the video show Eilish, 18, wearing a vest before she takes it off to expose her bra and slips into a pool of black water.

«The body I was born with… is it not what you wanted?» asks the singer who has said in the past that she chose to purposely wear baggy clothes to avoid being sexualized. «You have opinions about my opinions, about my music, about my clothes, about my body… Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it, some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me — but I feel you watching.»

Eilish then talks about feeling constantly on display, feeling the stares of others, their disapproval and sighs of relief, secure that if she lived through other people’s view of her she’d never be able to do anything. «Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you? Does my chest? Am I my stomach? My hips?» she asks.

«The body I was born with – is it not what you wanted? If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I’m a slut. Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why?… We decide who they are. We decide what they’re worth. If I wear more; if I wear less, who decides what that makes me? What that means? Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?”

According to reports, the two-minute video was played near the end of Eilish’s 22-song set, just before «All the Good Girls Go To Hell.»

The show was also special for another reason: it featured a superstar summit meeting between Eilish and Jennifer Lopez. The Super Bowl halftime star posted pics of the moment when she and daughter Emme, 12, hung out with Billie backstage.

Check out the sweet snaps, and Eilish’s moving message, below.

Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra Spent Their Sunday Riding Horses on the Beach, What Dreams Are Made Of

Nick Jonas took to social media on Sunday (March 1) to show off his adorable weekend date with Priyanka Chopra involving horses, cowboy hats and a picturesque view.

«Sunday,» the JoBro captioned a series of snaps of him and his wife riding a pair of horses beachside in Carpinteria, Calif. The pair of lovebirds are all smiles in the pictures, with Chopra gazing adoringly at her husband as he glances back with a grin.

Coincidentally, the sweet snaps arrive on the one-year anniversary of the release of the Jonas Brothers’ comeback single «Sucker,» which rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its surprise release in March 2019 and eventually became the year’s top song on U.S. radio. The Jonas Brothers each celebrated the anniversary on social media, with Nick writing in his post (which featured pics with Chopra from the «Sucker» video set), «we can’t help but realize how lucky we are.»

Nick recently teased that the band’s follow-up to 2019’s Happiness Begins is set to be announced in the coming weeks, and has already been preceded by lead single «What a Man Gotta Do.» Up next, Nick, Kevin and Joe are set to head to Las Vegas for a month-long residency at the Park Theater at Park MGM, which kicks off April 1.

The general public will have access starting March 5 at 9 a.m. ET. Ticket sales and additional information will be available here.

Roddy Ricch’s ‘The Box’ Rules Billboard Hot 100 For Fifth Week, Tones and I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ Swings Into Top Five

«Dance Monkey» is also the first top five hit written solely by a woman in over eight years.

Roddy Ricch‘s «The Box» spends a fifth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Plus, Tones and I‘s «Dance Monkey» ascends to the Hot 100’s top five, rising from No. 7 to No. 5, adding its latest chart honor after ruling multiple surveys worldwide. The song is additionally the first top five Hot 100 hit solely written by a woman in over eight years.

«The Box,» released on Bird Vision/Atlantic Records, notches a sixth week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart, despite a 6% drop to 63.2 million U.S. streams in the week ending Feb. 6, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The track rebounds 16-9 on Digital Song Sales, up 7% to 12,000 sold in the week ending Feb. 6, and surges 25-15 on Radio Songs, gaining by 34% to 46.1 million all-format airplay audience impressions in the week ending Feb. 9, as it wins the Hot 100’s top Airplay Gainer award for a third consecutive week.

Notably, «The Box» is the 14th song released on Atlantic to lead the Hot 100 for at least five weeks in the chart’s six-decade history, a figure that has swelled by four since just the start of 2017. The label’s other such leaders in that recent stretch: Lizzo’s «Truth Hurts» (seven weeks, 2019) and Ed Sheeran’s «Perfect,» with Beyoncé (six weeks, 2017-18), and «Shape of You» (12 weeks, 2017).

«The Box» concurrently crowns the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which employ the same multi-metric methodology as the Hot 100, for a sixth week each.

Future’s «Life Is Good,» featuring Drake, spends its fourth consecutive week at No. 2 on the Hot 100, encompassing its entire run on the chart so far. It also keeps at No. 2 on Streaming Songs (37.6 million, down 13%).

The song is the second ever to log its first four weeks on the Hot 100 at No. 2, after Mariah Carey’s «Always Be My Baby» became the first entry (of 32 to-date) to launch in the runner-up spot, on the chart dated April 6, 1996. «Baby» waited patiently for four frames as Celine Dion’s «Because You Loved Me» ran up its No. 1 run to six weeks before ascending for a two-week reign of its own.

Post Malone’s «Circles» is steady at No. 3 on the Hot 100, after three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1, and returns to No. 1 on Radio Songs, from No. 2, for a seventh week at the summit (103.6 million, up 2%).

Maroon 5’s «Memories» holds at No. 4 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2. It dips to No. 2 on Radio Songs (although with a less than 1% increase to 102.3 million), after it interrupted the reign of «Circles» on the ranking a week earlier, when it became the band’s seventh leader, the most among groups.

Tones and I’s «Dance Monkey» climbs 7-5 on the Hot 100, reaching the top five for the first time, as it rises 5-3 on Digital Song Sales (16,000, down 2%), 5-4 on Streaming Songs (22.8 million, up 2%) and 12-11 on Radio Songs (54.6 million, up 2%).

The song by the Australian singer-songwriter, real name Toni Watson, previously became the longest-leading No. 1 in her homeland, while topping multiple other global surveys, including the Official UK Singles chart, where it broke the record for the most time at No. 1 by a female soloist.

Meanwhile, Watson solely wrote «Dance Monkey,» and longtime chart fan Mark Blankenship recently tweeted about the rarity of a song written by one woman rising to the Hot 100’s upper reaches. Research reveals that the track is the first top five Hot 100 hit penned solely by a woman in nearly eight years, since Whitney Houston’s version of Dolly Parton’s «I Will Always Love You,» which Parton wrote by herself, reached No. 3 in March 2012 after Houston’s passing; the cover originally ruled for 14 weeks in 1992-93. Before that, Taylor Swift sent two songs that she solely wrote into the top five in 2010: «Mine» (No. 3 that August) and «Today Was a Fairytale» (No. 2 that February).

Solo-written top five Hot 100 hits in recent years by men are uncommon, too. The late Johnny Marks boasted two over the holidays (classics «Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree» by Brenda Lee and «A Holly Jolly Christmas» by Burl Ives), while, before that, J. Cole notched one in 2019, «Middle Child.»

The last Hot 100 No. 1 written by just one person? Sheeran’s «Perfect.» And, the last such leader by a woman? Alicia Keys’ self-authored «Fallin’,» back in 2001. (Of the 247 songs to spend time at No. 1 since the start of 2000, only 11, or 4%, have been penned by a single writer.)

More «Monkey» business: «Dance Monkey» is the second top five Hot 100 hit with the word «monkey» in its title, after George Michael’s «Monkey,» which ruled for two weeks in 1988. (Hey, hey, an honorable mention: The Monkees earned six top five hits, in 1966-68; all reached the top three, with three hitting No. 1.)

Lewis Capaldi’s «Someone You Loved» slips 5-6 on the Hot 100, after it spent three weeks at No. 1; Arizona Zervas’ «Roxanne» rises 8-7, after reaching No. 4; and Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber’s No. 4-peaking «10,000 Hours» drops 6-8, as it tops the multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart for an 18th week.

Calvin Harris Is Dropping Two New New Love Regenerator Tracks on Valentine’s Day

Calvin Harris is using his Love Regenerator alias to full effect, announcing today that his next tracks under the name will drop on Valentine’s Day. Out this Friday, the two song EP, Love Regenerator 2, will features tracks called «The Power of Love II» and «Regenerate Love.» Consider us swooning.

It’s been a busy month for the producer, with this music following January’s Love Regenerator 1 EP, which featured two new tracks, along with edits of said tracks. With a decidedly ravey acid house sound, this music marked a departure for Harris, who helped pioneer the EDM sound and the EDM pop crossover before moving into a more R&B direction with his 2017 LP, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1.
