The Weeknd Sets 2022 After Hours World Tour Dates

Ahead of the Weekend’s Super Bowl LV halftime show performance, the singer has announced his newly rescheduled After Hours World Tour dates — now set for 2022 — as well as a new greatest hits compilation.

After originally being set for 2020 and then postponed until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the North American leg of the After Hours World Tour will now embark on January 14th, 2022 — almost two years after the hit album’s release — with two shows in Vancouver, British Columbia, and conclude May 1st in Tacoma, Washington.

In addition to fulfilling all the previously postponed shows, including a three-night stand at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, the Weeknd has also announced nearly a dozen new dates, including an April 7th, 2022 gig at Elmont, New York’s in-construction UBS Arena, which marks the first announced concert at the new home of the New York Islanders.

Other new dates include a stop at Seattle’s soon-to-open Climate Pledge Arena on March 4th, a Los Angeles Forum show on March 11th, and added dates in Chicago, Brooklyn, and Boston.

Previously purchased tickets for the original After Hours trek will be valid at their rescheduled show, while tickets for the new dates go on sale Monday, February 8th at 10 a.m. local time — hours after the Weeknd’s halftime performance — at the Weeknd’s site.

Additionally, the Weeknd has announced his The Highlights collection, an album of 18 tracks that the singer “curated for the Super Bowl.” That compilation, due out February 5th, is available to preorder now.

It’s official: ‘Excuse Me, I Love You’ Ariana Grande’s ‘Sweetener’ concert movie coming to Netflix

If you missed Ariana Grande’s «Sweetener» tour — or if you’d just like to relive it — Netflix is here to help.

The pop star and streaming service confirmed Wednesday that a concert movie, called «Excuse Me, I Love You» will drop on Dec. 21.

Grande spent nine months on the road last year promoting both her 2018 album «Sweetener» and 2019 followup «Thank U, Next.» She ended the tour by dropping her first live album, which featured all Grande’s new notable hits from the past two albums, as well as a handful of fan favorites from «Dangerous Woman» (2016), «My Everything» (2014) and «Yours Truly» (2013).

At the tour’s last stop in Inglewood, California, the singer, 27, was recorded by fans bursting into tears as she gave a farewell address.

«This would not have gone the way it did without you and I love you so much,» she said. «Thank you for traveling around the world to see me. I know some of you guys flew all over the (expletive) place to see me. Like, what? Why? What? Thank you. And why? I love you. This has been amazing. Thank you so much.»

Grande also thanked her crew backstage.

«It just takes so many people to do something like this and I’m really grateful to everyone involved and everyone here,» Grande said. «You guys have become family… It’s a lot to be away from your home and your family for this long and no one ever has a bad (expletive) attitude.»

Grande has since released «Positions,» her sixth studio album. It debuted Oct. 30.

Netflix has teamed with a number of other high-profile musicians in recently for specials, including the Shawn Mendes documentary «In Wonder» and «Blackpink: Light Up the Sky.»

Dua Lipa live at Studio 2054: a big night in with a pop great who excels at escapism

When the pandemic first hit and normality was pulled out from under our feet, Dua Lipa’s second album ‘Future Nostalgia’ was one of the first new records to provide some escape. A series of infectious and fun disco gems, it brought the glitzy, sticky thrill of nights out into our homes, urging you to push the furniture aside, turn the lights off and forget all your new pandemic fears.

Seven months on, with the UK back in lockdown and coronavirus still commanding the globe, the pop star has found a new way to take us out of this moment. For her first livestream concert, Lipa has built an alternate reality – one where you can still run wild in a warehouse all night, indulging in excess and ecstasy, running from one room to another in search of the perfect soundtrack to your nocturnal adventures.

Dubbed Studio 2054, it’s an aesthetic wonderland of neon and glitter, sequins and mirrorballs, and its creator performance elevates it from pretty place to pop paradise. She begins on a podium for ‘Future Nostalgia’, dancers grooving around her as she sets the tone for the night with the playful, alluring track. The sublime ‘Levitating’ offers up the first glimpse of a choreographed routine, Lipa and her troupe matching the song’s light-hearted lyrics with equally fun moves, while, later, ‘Cool’ pairs gentle yearning with the star being transformed into the entertainment at a roller disco.

Although Lipa could more than craft and control this fantasy land by herself, it’s a special occasion and she’s roped in some friends to help out. FKA Twigs previews the duo’s collaboration ‘Why Don’t You Love Me’ for the first time, spinning seductively around a pole and whispering, “Why don’t you love me anymore?” over a minimal, glitchy beat. Towards the end, Studio 2054’s architect joins her and things change gear, their voices rasping as they yell: “You hurt me in a world like this / You’re dead when I say so.”

During a segment that takes things into a grimy club, Kylie Minogue drops by to deliver her own sultry disco track ‘Real Groove’ before helping out on Lipa’s Silk City collab ‘Electricity’. DJ The Blessed Madonna, who helmed the recent remix album ‘Club Future Nostalgia’, commands the decks, mixing Gwen Stefani’s ‘Hollaback Girl’ with ‘Physical’, and Belgian singer Angèle crashes Dua’s dressing room to bring the sticky, bilingual pop of ‘Fever’ to the night.

There’s no shortage to the star power to help Lipa out with her big night, though one guest feels shoehorned in. After ‘Electricity’, Elton John appears on a screen, playing a beautiful version of his classic ‘Rocket Man’. Before he finishes, though, he’s cut off, the cameras panning to another part of the warehouse where Lipa launches into ‘Hallucinate’. With no link to the rest of the set, it ends up feeling random – at best, like a room you’ve temporarily dipped into to find lost friends; at worst, a filler while Lipa takes a breather and changes outfits. It’s a missed opportunity to see what a team-up between a legend and one of pop’s current greats would look like.

That slight blip aside, Studio 2054 goes some way to completing Lipa’s evolution from good to great that started with the release of ‘Future Nostalgia’. Although the routines on show tonight aren’t the most complex, they flesh out her performance enough that now she has the songs, the personality and the presence that all true icons possess. Hopefully next time we get to witness them, we’ll no longer need her to use them to transport us out of our own homes.

If You Wanna Believe That Anything Could Stop Dua Lipa, Don’t Watch Her Host Jimmy Kimmel Live!

If you don’t want to see Dua Lipa deliver her first late-night monologue, don’t stay up, don’t sit down, don’t start caring about Kimmel now. The singer is the latest celeb to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live! during Kimmel’s summer vacation and, well, for her first hosting gig, she handled it like a pro. “You know that song your kid listened to, like, 5,000 times trying to perfect a dance on TikTok?,” she asks viewers at home. “That was me. You’re welcome. And I’m sorry. Jimmy and I actually just switched jobs for the night. Right now, I’m here, and he’s performing for thousands of people at a dance hall in Berlin, in a very tight tank top.”

In addition to interviewing her pop predecessor Gwen Stefani later in the evening, Lipa also allowed herself to get lightly roasted by a cadre of elderly music fans responding to her music and looks directly to her face. “That’s terrible,” one woman muses over a yellow tartan crop top. “If I had a daughter, I wouldn’t want her to go out in that.” Said another reviewer, “It looks like she’s trying too hard.” When it comes to hosting late-night TV, however, she’s kind of trying the perfect amount.

She also got Tim Cook to agree to a huge donation from Apple.

A major effort deserves a major push and on Monday night (April 6) Lady Gaga made history by appearing on all the major late night talk shows to announce the lineup for the Global Citizen/World Health Organization  «One World: Together at Home» concert. After a brief appearance last week on The Tonight Show during which she didn’t say much, but promised big news, Gaga was back Zooming with Jimmy Fallon from her home office to first reveal who is hosting the prime time event.

«Would you like to know who’s hosting?» she asked Fallon, who eagerly said yes just hours after the full lineup of the show was announced. «You… I got Jimmy Fallon and guess who else I got?» she asked, holding up a pink Post-It note with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel’s name on it as well. The late night giants will come together to help host the show on NBC, CBS and ABC. «The thing I’ve been most excited about is when I talk to people and I just see everyone want to jump in and help and be a part of it,» Gaga said of the two-hour show (8-10 p.m. ET) that will air on April 18.

Gaga noted that the cast of Sesame Street will also be in the house, as well as actors and athletes for a show she hopes will put a spotlight on the «global, kind community that’s coming together right now,» with a focus on the medical teams doing the brave frontline work, as well as what she said was the «kind» cultural moment we’re all experiencing and the strength of the human spirit in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announced artist lineup for the show will include: Gaga, Alanis Morissette, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Billy Joe Armstrong, Burna Boy, Chris Martin, David Beckham, Eddie Vedder, Elton John, Finneas, Idris and Sabrina Elba, J Balvin, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Kerry Washington, Lang Lang, Lizzo, Maluma, Sir Paul McCartney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan and Stevie Wonder; the event will be broadcast live on ABC, NBC and ViacomCBS networks and iHeartMedia in the U.S. and Bell Media platforms in Canada and on BBC One, and stream on Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple, beIN Media Group, Facebook, Instagram, LiveXLive, Tencent, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, TIDAL, TuneIn, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo and YouTube.

Gaga stressed that the show isn’t a telethon or a fundraiser, since she’s already raised $35 million, including generous donations from IBM and Cisco, and, in a live call on Fallon, Apple CEO Tim Cook, who FaceTimed in to the show to confirm a «sizable» donation to the cause.

“Of course we appreciate everything that Apple has done already to support the COVID-19 [relief effort]. As the CEO of Apple, we’re very grateful to you,” Gaga told Cook.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live! Gaga said she hasn’t left the house in a month and has spent most of the time in quarantine making calls to more than 68 philanthropists and corporate donors to fundraise for the show so that people at home didn’t have to worry about donating during the broadcast. «The truth is that I feel very blessed that I have a home. I feel blessed that I have access to good food and that it’s healthy and clean and I wanted to figure out what I could do with my time to be of service,» she told Kimmel.
