Ariana Grande Calls Out Those Ignoring the Coronavirus: ‘You Need to Care More About Others’

0

Photos of crowded bars, venues and city streets flooded social media in the days following President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency due to the global coronavirus pandemic, and many — including Ariana Grande — are frustrated by those who aren’t taking the spread of COVID-19 seriously.

On Sunday (March 15), the pop star posted a PSA encouraging those who haven’t been taking precautions to do so, and immediately. She pointed out that while they may not consider themselves at risk for coming down with the virus, they could be passing it on to those who are in high-risk groups (such as the elderly and those with diabetes, heart disease or lung disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) if they don’t change their attitudes and behavior.

«I keep hearing from a surprising amount of people statements like ‘this isn’t a big deal’/’we’ll be fine’… ‘we still have to go about our lives’ and it’s really blowing my mind,» she wrote. «I understand if that is how u felt weeks ago. But please read about what’s going on. Please don’t turn a blind eye. It’s incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation that lightly.»

She doubled down on her reality check: «The ‘we will be fine because we’re young’ mindset is putting people who aren’t young and/or healthy in a lot of danger. You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others. like now.» In a separate tweet, she added that «your hip-hop yoga class can f–king wait i promise.»

Harry Styles Taps Into a Peaceful, Easy Feeling For Intimate NPR Tiny Desk Concert: Watch

0

The stripped-down show highlighted songs from «Fine Line.»

Almost from the very first gig, Harry Styles has gotten used to playing for thousands of screaming, adoring fans. But in his NPR Tiny Desk debut concert, Harry stripped things all the way back for a peaceful, easy feeling four-song set that spotlighted his Fine Line album, peeling the songs back to coffee house melodies that shined a light on his intimate songwriting.

The set kicked off with an acoustic ramble through «Cherry,» before picking up the tempo a bit for a track Styles said he wrote in Nashville in 2017 on a day off from the tour for his solo debut. «It’s probably the longest it’s ever taken me to finish a song,» he explained. «We kind of liked it when we first had it and then I really hated it for a long time and it kind of came back and it seemed to kind of kept coming back into the mix.»

Styles said the song describes that «initial euphoria» of new love and the longing and excitement came through in the unplugged, funky arrangement, spotlighted by a triple acoustic guitar attack and angelic backing vocals from the band’s female drummer, keyboard player and rhythm guitarist.

Harry couldn’t say enough nice things about playing the small-room gig, shouting out a particular group of fans who were dancing in place and giving him some life. After telling the story behind «To Be So Lonely» — including the unfortunate bit where everyone seems to sing along loudest to the line about him being an «arrogant bastard» — Styles worked through a jaunty, hand-clapping version of the musical mea culpa.

The set ended with a song about a fish… okay actually another one about that first rush of love, «Adore You.» The stripped-back acoustic funk version of the song was elevated by drummer Sarah Jones, guitarist Ny Oh and piano player Charlotte Clark’s powerful backing vocals.

Mamamoo’s Hwa Sa Announces K-Pop Remix of Dua Lipa’s ‘Physical’

0

The pop divas previously teamed up for the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2019.

Dua Lipa is once again tapping into the K-pop scene, this time teaming up with an equally bold diva in Hwa Sa from girl group MAMAMOO.

MAMAMOO’s official social media accounts made the announcement on Monday (March 16) revealing that Hwa Sa and Dua Lipa had teamed up for a new remix of «Physical.»

The reworked version will drop on Tuesday, March 17, at 11:00PM EST, and will include new Korean lyrics as well as both women singing the original English lyrics.

«Physical,» the second single from the British star’s upcoming Future Nostalgia album, was released in January and has peaked at No. 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 so far. The new K-pop remix is the song’s latest unconventional-yet-exciting push, after Lipa dropped an ’80s-style workout video.

This isn’t the first time the pop divas have teamed up. Late last year at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards, Hwa Sa covered «New Rules» before Dua took to the stage to perform «Don’t Start Now.» Hwa Sa later presented Dua with the international favorite artist award, and the two artists shared a hug onstage and a photo backstage.

While the soulful and strong quartet of MAMAMOO has been a force on the Billboard charts for several years — earning No. 1s on both the World Albums and World Digital Song Sales charts — Hwa Sa is still quite new as a solo act. The starlet made her first entry on the charts when her solo single «Twit» peaked at No. 3 on World Digital Song Sales in February of last year and spent six weeks on the tally.

Dua Lipa last showed her love for the K-pop scene when she and BLACKPINK teamed up for the song «Kiss & Make Up» off the deluxe, «complete» edition of her self-titled debut album in 2018. The track hit No. 94 on the Hot 100.

Check out Dua Lipa and Hwa Sa’s joint award-show performance, as well as Hwa Sa’s «Twit» music video with nearly 60 million views, below. Get ready for your K-pop take on «Physical» tomorrow.

Miley Cyrus Is Weathering the Coronavirus Quarantine by Posting Classic ‘Hannah Montana’ Clips

0

Miley also asks you to be nice to each other during these unprecedented times.

Like so many of us, Miley Cyrus is still trying to figure out what life looks like under quarantine, as much of the nation is hunkered down at home amid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Luckily for Cyrus, she’s got her old Hannah Montana clips to keep her company, and she picked some classic ones to share with fans as she encouraged them to be kind to each other.

«Day 2 quarantine. This is the REAL ME. RIGHT NOW,» Cyrus wrote on Saturday alongside a clip in which Hannah, wearing a white mask, tries to tidy up a nasty bathroom without getting any of her dad’s cooties on her.

She also weighed in on the importance of social distancing during this time — staying at least six feet away from other people to avoid getting the coronavirus — writing «Social F—ing Distancing. #HannahAlwaysKnowsBest» to go with a pic of her character saying «Did you see that? The new guy touched me. Didn’t anybody tell him?»

In an apparent commentary on the hoarding of items such as toilet paper and other essentials that is going on in some cities, Cyrus offered some peaceful advice. «Be thoughtful. Respectful. Compassionate. HUMAN. while preparing for social distancing….» she said. «NO ONE needs every soup in the store, The more we hoard the more expensive and sparse necessities will become, leaving many without essentials. This is a great time to practice restraint… it’s incredibly difficult to make smart decisions while panicking , but think twice before following the fear and being inconsiderate. There is enough to go around if we take care of one another. This is a beautiful time to LEAD!»

On Sunday (March 15) she presented a clip of Lilly scrubbing the house to a polish, with the note «Find yourself a Lilly…. @HannahMontanapredictedcoronavirus.» Cyrus joins Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande in urging Americans to be kind to one another and adhere to the plea for social distancing.

OneRepublic Questions Lost Love on ‘Didn’t I,’ Announces New Album

0

OneRepublic unveiled the music video for their latest single «Didn’t I» on Friday (March 13).

In the clip, a forlorn Ryan Tedder belts out the lovesick ode to a former flame as he wanders through a moody, sun-dappled estate. «Didn’t I, didn’t I, didn’t I love you?/ Didn’t we, didn’t we, didn’t we fly?/ Know that I, know that I still care for you/ But didn’t we, didn’t we say goodbye?» he asks on the track’s looping chorus.

«Didn’t I» is set to be featured on the pop band’s fifth studio album, Human, which will be released May 8 via Interscope Records. The forthcoming LP was preceded by lead single «Rescue Me» as well as previously released tracks «Somebody to Love» and «Wanted.»

The announcement comes just one week after Tedder confirmed he’ll also be returning for season 2 of NBC’s hit songwriting competition show Songland alongside Ester Dean and Shane McAnally.

Niall Horan is Deathly Afraid of Pigeons, Takes Awkward Lie Detector Test in ‘Carpool Karaoke’: Watch

0

The last night of Niall Horan week on The Late Late Show ended with both a bang and a whisper, as the «Nice to Meet Ya» singer hopped in the car with his old chum James Corden for a «Carpool Karaoke» segment that got real weird real fast.

«I suppose you want to listen to music now, do ya?» Horan said, busting out his cheekiest Corden impression. «Is that your impression of me?» Corden shot back, giving Niall a taste of the Irish before the pair busted into a sensual front seat duet on «Slow Hands.» The pair got to talking about Horan’s biggest fears, which include claustrophobia and his terrifying ornithophobia.

«I hate birds,» Horan admitted, wringing his hands. «I’d say mostly pigeons. Like I do enjoy a good walk in the park, but the minute pigeons come into it…» What scares him most, he said, was that they don’t appear scared of humans, who have to run at them to get the birds to move. So, of course, because they’re best buds, Corden made Niall face his fears by meeting some pigeons up close.

Looking terrified, Horan agreed to hold a pigeon named Ted in his trembling hands, as a second pigeon was placed on his left shoulder, as well as a third who perched on his head and promptly pooped on his back after Corden walked away. After wiping down his collar, Corden made it all better with a spirited, hand-clapping round of «Nice to Meet Ya.»

They also looked back with cheer at the One Direction days, including the insane merch, which included a tube of 1D toothpaste, and the time he meet Kim Kardashian West backstage at an Ariana Grande concert and she introduced him to her daughter North West as «the guy who sings from your toothbrush.» Corden also got 26-year-old Niall to speak to his super-shredded 16-year-old doll version and tell him about the crazy life he’s going to live.

After a round of 1D’s «Steal My Girl,» Corden recalled their first meeting more than a decade ago, when Niall had a NSFW email address and sang a lilting «Put a Little Love On Me» before Corden tested their «proper» friendship with the ultimate analysis: a lie detector test. Niall told the truth about whether he really thinks 1D will reunite, whether he actually likes Simon Cowell and if The Late Late Show is his favorite late night show to appear on.

Things were just as tense when Horan asked if James likes his darker hair and if he prefers his «Slow Hands» to Harry Styles’ «Sign of the Times.» (Click below to find out the results.)

Horan also returned later in the show to perform «Black and White,» an urgent love song from his new solo album, Earthquake Weather, which dropped on Friday (March 13). Strumming an acoustic guitar over the song’s chugging rhythm, Horan rose up into the rousing chorus, belting, «Yeah, I see us in black and white/Crystal clear on a starlit night/ In all your gorgeous colors/ I promise that I’ll love you for the rest of my life.»

Celine Dion Postpones Two Courage World Tour Dates, But Don’t Worry It’s Just a Cold

0

The singer has had to pull out of her DC and Pittsburgh dates this week.

Celine Dion has postponed two shows on her Courage World Tour this week, but unlike so many other artists calling off shows due to the spread of COVID-19, the singer told fans it was because of a more routine virus. «Due to the common cold, Celine Dion postpones Courage World tour dates in Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh, Pa.,» the singer wrote in a Facebook message.

The affected shows were slated to take place on Wednesday (March 11) at Capital One Arena in D.C. and Friday (March 13) at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The gigs have been rescheduled for November.

«On Monday night, a day after completing a six-show run in the New York area, Celine began feeling the symptoms of a common cold,» read the statement. «The symptoms persisted into Tuesday, and her doctors instructed her to rest for the next 5-7 days. After testing her, the doctors concluded that her virus was not related to COVID-19.»

Dion apologized for disappointing her fans in Washington D.C. and Pittsburgh and said that performances are expected to resume on March 24 in Denver at the Pepsi Center.

Taylor Swift Almost Had a Role on This Hit TV Show

0

Taylor Swift may not have set the big screen on fire in the box office dud Cats, but the singer almost had a role in the hit TV show Vampire Diaries. That’s according to Nina Dobrev, one of the stars of beloved supernatural teen drama that ended its run in 2017.

Appearing on E! News’ Pop of the Morning, to promote Run This Town — a drama about the headline-scorching tenure of late Toronto Mayor Rob Ford — Dobrev revealed that Swift would have joined the show’s star-studded cast if it wasn’t for a bad case of timing.

«I remember at the very beginning, we heard that Taylor Swift was a fan of the show,» Dobrev said.

«And then the producers tried to write a role for her. It didn’t work out, schedule-wise, obviously she wasn’t on the show, but that was a surprising one… I think she would have been great.» A spokesperson for Swift could not be reached for comment at press time about her almost-Vampire cameo.
